A great cordless phone system with answering machine. As with all Panasonic products, good quality and value for the price. Looked at many on the market, but was impressed with the many features, like the Dect 6.0, illuminated displays, audio message playback and call answering. Being our main home phone, we needed the features, and durability available with this phone system. Another nice feature is the non slip handsets. This system meets our expectations and would recommend to any one looking to purchase a good quality, home system for the price.

I have had AT&T and Uniden phones in the past, and by far this is a better sounding phone.

Pros: 1. The sound quality is great. 2. If I'm close to the main charging station the phone uses less battery. 3. Caller ID says the caller's name out load, so I don't have to stop what I'm doing if I'm not near the phone and it's a telemarketer. 4. The display is bright and easy to read. 5. It was easy to set up with our voicemail plan.

Cons: 1. The secondary charging station stopped charging the 2nd handset after a few months, and I can't seem to order a new charging base without getting an additional phone (which I don't need). 2. Would like better volume control for listening, seems like even on the lowest setting some callers are really loud.

Overall, this is a great phone, and my issue seems isolated.

My wife and I just recently upgraded our home phone from an older cordless phone (non-DECT), to this Panasonic KX-TG4032B DECT 6.0 PLUS unit, and we couldn't be more pleased with it! There are more features than I could even try to list here, which can be a little tough to intuitively navigate to without the instruction book handy, but a lot of the features are not ones that you need to access regularly, so it's not really a big deal at all (just don't throw away the instructions!)

Here are some of the things we especially love:
1) Uses a less common frequency, so less interference with routers and wireless subwoofers (not 2.4ghz).
2) Ability to block specific phone numbers, as well as block private/restricted/unavailable calls.
3) A silence mode allows you to program each of the units individually to not ring during a certain time (so if you don't want the phone in the bedroom ringing from 10pm-8am, it's no problem!)

We also love that we can add in another unit later if we decide we need one.
While the Panasonic might not be the cheapest set, but they don't overcharge for replacement batteries (like v-tech or uniden), which brings down the cost in the long-run.

This is a great phone, not only because it's beautiful. Because it's modern and smart. Recently I've been buying lots of Panasonic products because they are one of the only companies not selling JUNK to us. I bought their vacuum cleaner too.

Just a few minor quibbles (are you listening Panasonic?):
- answering machine does not have a constant blip to let you know you have messages- if you don't check for the flashing light, you might miss messages until the next day.
- due to interference from appliances I couldn't keep the base unit near the front door/kitchen because I couldn't get a dial tone. I had to put the extension pod there and the base unit in my bedroom. Not a big deal but I like checking messages when I walk in the door. You might have different results of course.
- Menus could be a little bit more easy to navigate. You'll need to keep the instruction manual around for reference. Japanese people might do this, but let's face it, most Americans will never look at the manual or throw it away. Which would be unfortunate because there are a few programming codes and info that you will NEED later. Save the manual. However it is available online.
I almost gave 4 stars based on this but then I discovered all of the great features this phone has. I love it, overall. And it looks darn slick. Nice design.

I am giving this KX-TG40xx-series Panasonic phone a 5 star rating even though it has a few limitations. I have had it 6 months and it satisfies its core functions perfectly. In all, I really like this phone, better than any other cordless phone I have owned. I would recommend this phone for someone non-technical to whom speed dial is a daunting mystery as well as for someone who likes to be a little more techie.

Pros:

- It just works. I have owned this phone for 6 months and have seen no issues. I have had several cordless phones, all of which had issues after a while and eventually stopped working. I will have to see how it functions after a year.
- The volume can be set quite loud.
- The speaker phone works fairly well. Sometimes the folks on the other end can't hear consistently if the phone is not within 1.5? feet of your face.
- It has a headset jack, which I consider very important.
- The keys are large, easy to read and the numbers have not rubbed off. The numbers show up very well because the entire buttons are backlit.
- It works great with my Cisco SPA2102 ATA device.
- I bought a friend a higher-end Panasonic phone (KX-TG753X series) on sale and I don't like it as much as this one. The screen is larger but the buttons are smaller and are not as easy to read when backlit. The entire buttons do not light up, just the numbers.
- Caller ID holds a large number of entries and it is possible to delete them all at once.

There are some limitations:

- No speed-dial is available. I use my internet phone adapter as a workaround since it has speed dial built in. This is the number one limitation to me.
- The memory book is rudimentary compared to cell phones.
