I just ordered this phone about a month ago. It works fine so far. It's full of features and it has a long battery life. The sound and reception are very clear, and it's very user friendly. So far, so good.

I've turned on the VE option manaully, and it sounds a tad diff, but it's really unecessary, unless you're really far away from the base, or the base is near a computer where it could get alot of emi/rfi interference. My only peeve with this phone, is that on Panasonic's website they list this model as having the voice scrambling/digital security option, and it doesnt. But it is still by the the best phone I've ever owned. The speakerphone on the back is also great(and small, it doesnt protrude, it's flush with the back), you dont have to yell into it or hold it up to you for it to pickup your voice. I actually bought my phone from amazon a while back when they had them for thirty-five.ninetyfive, which has since gone up a bit. I honestly wish I had bought two or three of them back then, but I think I'll holdout till the splash/shock resistant models with the voice scramble option drop in price.update: had this phone for maybe a month or more now, and I've just found more options in the menu of the phone i didnt even know existed. One of them is 6 custom rings/custom LED settings, for which you can even set for when a specific phone # calls you(you can tell by the sound of the phone whos calling). Also the top of the phone has an LED. It's not just orange, it is also red, and green, as well as any flash combo of the three. You can also set those "visual" alerts for when specific people call, again so that you know who it is without having to look at the callerid. I set mine so that when a family member calls, it blinks red, but also blinks orange when normal people(not on the contact list) call. Also, so far the battery life has been incredible(NiMH batteries as opposed to the Ni cad's that older phones use). And one should also note that, it is real 5.8GHz(both base and phone operate on the same freq[which periodically hops, for security], and interact that way). Other phone companies(vtech is notorious for it) make phones that use a diff frequency at the base, so they can claim it's 5.8, when it's really 2.4 just to save money.

This is a very good cordless phone (for an additional phone in your household). It doesn't have the answering machine portion so it's not for a main household phone. Everything else though is fine. The 5.8 GHz will alleviate any interference problems with your other electronic (transmitting) devices!

Unless you suffer from extreme hearing loss, this is not the phone for you. Voice enhanced,it is very difficult to keep the booster off (it keeps reappearing no matter what you select) and as a result the voice on the other end blasts at you.The menu is exceedingly difficult to navigate with limited choices. Basically you better just want to use the phone directory or try adjusting the booster. Everything else is difficult to capture. Though it is a nice design, every call I made or received was full of static (the antennae were fully extended and the phone in that same spot previously never had any such problems for 8 years.) The static was so interfering that I was asked repeatedly to take the call on another phone. Bottom line, I chucked the phone and ordered another roduct.

I have used a lot of cordless phones over many years and this is one of the best ever. The sound quality is excellent. The interface is completely intuitive. It is a great size. The speakerphone built into the handset works really well. I just saw this same phone for $20 more at another site so this is also a great price.

AVOID AT ALL COST!!!! (Scroll down and look at all the bad reviews listed here first)I advise anyone who is thinking of buying this phone to reconsider there choices and buy a different model. I am a big fan of Panasonic and always buy this brand of phones. However after reciving this model of phone it hasn't work right since after the first week of use. Either I get no dial tone or if your lucky enough to get a dial tone it doesn't dial out or hang up right. I can't even leave the phone hooked into the jack because it causes a busy signal on my phone line from not hanging up properly. It's not my phone jack or set up I've tried all kinds of different phone jacks and wasy of fixing this. It has to be the phone!!!!

My favorite thing about this phone is that the caller ID captures 11 digit numbers (1-xxx-xxx-xxxx) which are then very easy to store into the phone book and call. My old phone only captured 10 digits (xxx-xxx-xxxx) which meant I had to reenter everything manually because of course you have to dial a 1 first. This new phone also allows me to toggle between 11 digits and 7 digits on the same number. I put together my phone book just by capturing calls as they came in. Very handy. As far as being a phone, it does everything well and after a couple of months I am still as happy as could be with it.

Nice phone. Some drawbacks.,

Having owned a Panasonic 900 mhz phone that finally gave up the ghost due to a damaged base, I decided to replace it with a new phone. The 5621 is a compact, attractive little unit, that has decent sound quality, and a great feature set. The charging base nicely cradles the handset, and keeps this handset out of harms way. I found some drawbacks though that are a concern.1. 5.6 ghz phones have a much reduced range compared to their 900 mhz counterparts. The higher you go in frequency, the more things like walls, trees, doors and other obstructions block the signal. My 900 mhz phone allows me to walk over a two acre area while still receiving a strong phone signal. The 5621 loses contact with the base 1/2 an acre away. 2. The keypad is not protected against accidental contact. The keys on my 900 mhz phone are recessed into the plastic case, so that when you slide the phone into a pocket, the plastic case prevents the keys from hitting anything. The keys on the 5621 stick up above the case, and are constantly getting pressed when the phone rides in a pocket or backpack.

I replaced a much older 900 MHz Panasonic telephone that had given me good service but had simply worn out. I especially like the features of this new unit: the "phone book" in which you can store up to 50 telephone numbers and access just by pushing a button, the ideal compact size, its ergonomics (i.e., the feel of it in your hand), the very clear reception, and the looks of the phone in general. I might note that I thoroughly research almost everything that I buy. I subscribe to Consumer Reports, both the magazine and on-line, and I did my usual research on this one. The Panasonic name means quality to me anyhow, and I hardly ever buy anything without at least checking out products bearing this name. As in this case, it is a quality produce and gives good service - a Panasonic trademark. It is not just a coincidence that the telephone/answering machine/fax machine sitting to my left at this desk is a Panasonic. And, as usual, I found the Amazon price to be more than competitive, as Amazon usually is. Plus, you know Amazon's service is as dependable as it gets.
