Great Phone, Great Price,

I recently bought this cordless phone for my parents as they were having trouble rushing to reach one of their corded extensions. So far it is great. Because it comes with two handheld units, they each get to carry one with them all day. The best part is that the phones come with built-in intercoms and they can communicate with each other via the intercom when they are in different rooms (which is frequently!). My father, who is also hard of hearing and has difficulty hearing conversations on most phones, has no problem hearing people on this phone. So all in all, a great phone. So great, in fact, that I'm thinking of purchasing one for myself and my wife!

A decent phone. . .*but*. . .,

A reviewer of another product wrote a review that was so simple it saved me from buying the wrong DVD-R, just by pointing out the unpublicized lack of a feature I would have considered standard.
To get to it: Maybe I missed it, but apparently once a message is retrieved, there is no indication there was ever one there. And: you cannot change the outgoing message from away. These may be two trivial points, but to me they seem to be- or at one time were, basic functions of an answering machine. Now I realize why tape answering machines - Panasonic, usually- still go for an average of $70 on Ebay. I would have to contend that otherwise, this seems to be an OK phone, easy to program and use. Adequate battery life, decent clarity and signal strength. But I would trade multiple ringtones, talking caller ID and 3 LED colors for a lingering "message received" indicator. ************************************************** However, after six months use: Pro: 1. Works pretty much like a basic wireless phone should work. 2. No transmission issues. The colored lights are pretty. The intercom works OK. My cat was even able to operate the base unit pager at 3AM today, I am not making this up. 3. The handsets have an alarm clock capability. (Now there's something I have always wanted in a phone!) Not. Con: 1. You cannot change the outgoing message via remote, to me a major oversight 2. The base unit pops and clicks when its handset is in use, sometimes the conversation will bleed through. 3. The ringtones included are quite a few types: moderately irritating to extremely annoying. 4. The dial-out speed is prehistorically slow. 5. The messaging playback and control is almost crude. It doesn't even have a message counter! It is easy to skip unheard messages or accidentally erase them. 6. The outgoing message resets to default after even a brief power interruption - - or the cat did it. 7. The reset time between accepting a call after a message is sometimes longer than you'd like. 8. The menus and programming seem to be also pretty dated- I bet this baby was state-of-the-art in 1994. I think someone concentrated on a bunch of frills I could live without and neglected some of what I, at least, consider the rudimentary requirements of an answering machine. And failed to dump a dated operating system. Sorry I bought it, but that is my fault for not really knowing what to look for in a system before the return grace period is over. Once again, I will say Amazon needs to allow us to change the "stars" up there. I would downgrade if I could.

Great Phone, however.....,
This review is from: Panasonic KX-TG6052B 5.8 GHz FHSS Expandable Digital Cordless Phone System with 2 Handsets (Office Product)
The phone itself is awesome! It does everything you can possibly think of: talking caller id from each handset, speakerphones with mute option on each handset, message retrieve from each handset, intercom option, note/message option on base unit, internal phone book on each handset, ringer id for each handset - the list is endless. The only thing I would change is the wall mount option. I bought this phone for my kitchen wall, and although it does have the wall mount plate, the phone base must sit horizontally or the handset will fall out. When mounted to the wall, it sits at a 90-degree angle. It sticks out sort of far, so if the phone is in a high-traffic area it will be bumped into. It also is difficult to see since most phone plates sit close to eye level. I have to stand on my toes to see the buttons to check for messages. As long as you plan to use the base phone on a desk, you can't go wrong!

I wanted a phone with the following features:
- didn't interfere with home WiFi network - had a headset jack on the handset - had a mute button - had an answering machine - could keep good quality while roaming 1 or 2 rooms away Of those I tried: GE, Uniden, Panasonic and AT&T, the Panasonic KX-TG6052B was the best. All features work, Panasonic audio is good, and the buttons and beeps are nice and responsive. I've since purchased a second set for another floor of the house.

I've had this phone for awhile now. I would definitely recommend this phone to anyone looking for a wireless phone system in their house that doesn't have a huge ugly antenna sticking out of it.
This phone has incredible range compared to my Motorola 5.8ghz system. The clarity of the phone is what I would expect - the speakerphone is even better. It is actually loud enough to hear the other person (most speakerphones - you can't hear anything in my experience). I love the fact that it doesn't have a huge antenna hitting my head when I'm holding this up to my ear. The way this phone feels is A+. It fits in your hand perfectly and still feels ok after holding it to your ear for a few hours. My only complaint about this phone is: The buttons do not light up and the volume is a wee low when you're holding it up to your ear. Things I found out later: My cell phone's headset works on this phone. That is a big plus as I talk a lot with family in another state. Definitely recommended!

So Far Best Phone I've Ever Had,

Love this new cordless Panasonic phone. Battery life is excellent, sound quality excellent and extra headset is two floors above main unit and works perfectly. Intercom is nice and works great. Talking caller id is hilarious and saves you from having to get up to look at the display to see who's calling. The system struggles with pronouncing some names but I can always figure out who is calling. I would highly recommend this new Panasonic unit to anyone.

Its not the Phone...its the frequency!,

Ok, I bought this phone and threw away the box and I have confidence in Panasonic. I don't use my landline very often and I received my 1st call today. Could not get the volume loud enough, it was echoing back at me and the clarity was poor. I had my brother on the phone and he said he had the same problem with several sets he recently purchased and returned, all different manufacturers, all 2.4 to 5.8 ghz phones. After research caused by frustration, he found out that if you have wireless in your home, even a wireless alarm system (ME), it may interfere with the cordless phone, evidently its the moderate to inexpensive models of the 5.8 GHZ phones. They only receive or transmit at 5.8, not always in both directions. The only moderately price phones that are not imnpacted by wireless services in the home are the new 6.0 frequency phones. If you have a hard wired alarm system and a cable modem or dial up, no problem. I feel better but I wish that this type of information was out there for the consumer when purchasing. I am now stuck with this phone set and will have to buy another one.

I've had the phone a couple months now, and have found it easy to set up and use, with no major drawbacks. The caller ID that announces the caller in a computer-generated woman's voice is a neat feature, although it has trouble with some words. The directory is very easy to program, and with a few key-strokes you can update the other handset with the same directory. The answering machine provides a very clear recording, but I wish it had something to indicate how many messages were on it. There are simple verbal prompts for navigating the messages, but you have to go through them to hear all the messages and find out how many and how old they are. The sound quality of the handsets is excellent, so the optional voice enhancer and slow-talk features haven't been needed. That's just as well, because those features have to be activated after you have begun the call, which is not very convenient. Overall, I am very pleased with the phone, and it meets all my needs in a very attractive package.

The phone and the answering machine are satisfactory, but I would not recommend the system for someone interested in a TOP quality answering system and cordless phones. Voice clarity is very average and the "voice enhancer" only decreases the quality. The phone does NOT indicate (light or otherwise) that another phone on same line in the house is in use. The only way you know there is a voice mail on the server is when you pick up the phone to make anther call, or look carefully at the small screen -- neither is very helpful. The description of the phone led me to believe that for this good price I was getting a top of the line system -- and I learned again that you get what you pay for, so don't go by the manufacturer's description of the quality. All in all, a satisfactory phone, but not a top quality or a great buy.

Super Phone except for one thing,

I am very happy with this phone. It is feature filled. You can even copy the phone book, or any single items fromthe phonebook from one handset to the other. Has unique rings, tracks calls missed. Does everything it claims to do.
I have one minor complaint that I wish was adjustable and thats that the lighted display turns off the light too quickly. I find that annoying and totally pointless. The phones are constantly in their cradles being charged, so why can't a light stay on for more than 4 or 5 seconds while I am trying to read whats on there. Other than that, I think its super, so 4.5 stars if that were possible For some reason, the firmware has been programmed to oturn the light off way to quickly in my opinion. |
