And now, there's a better way to make and receive calls at home with ultimate comfort and convenience. Panasonic Link-to-Cell uses Bluetooth®* technology to connect your cell calls to your home handset extensions. No more running for your cell, walking around for good reception, or cradling that little phone on your shoulder. Better yet, you get to tap into your free cell minutes for talk time and you can charge your cell while using the home handsets. Now, that's convenience! How Does It Work? Just link any Bluetooth-enabled cell phone to your Link-to-Cell base unit and you're good to go. It's that easy. Set up takes only seconds, and you can link up to two phones at once*. Talking Caller ID lets you know who's calling and custom ring tones tell you which cell phone is ringing. With Link-to-Cell, You Can: * Talk comfortably and clearly on your cell anywhere in your house * Charge your cell phone while using your home handset on a cell call * Utilize the system even if you don't have a landline * Take advantage of your cell plan's free nights and weekend minutes * Assign different ring tones to each cell, so you know whose cell is ringing * Expand your home system with up to five additional handsets so you can take cell calls anywhere in the house * Relax... once you set up your Link-to Cell system, the handsets will automatically connect to your cell phone as long as it's within * 30 of the base unit*

Panasonic Fails..... March 7, 2010
I bought the Panasonic KX-TH1212B system and 4 expansion handsets(total of 6) and really gave it a try. I wanted a system that would allow us to both get rid of our land line and still be able to use our landline type home phonesets - we could thus just live via a cell phone connection.

The Panasonic expansion phones and the link between phone and base works well, the bluetooth connection I found to be a nightmare. I tried three phones with bluetooth, a new Apple IPhone, a 8310 Blackberry curve and a Motorolla V557. None of the phones will drive the Panasonic connection. I got tired of coming home and getting little love notes and frowns from everybody in the house regarding our new phone system and it's poor performance.

In comes the solution: I went out and found a Siemens Gigaset One. This system has worked very well for a month now. The Bluetooth connection has been flawless with all three phones listed above. I get a little static on the line at times, but worth the $50 a month we save.

I now use the Panasonic system I bought as the home handsets via a cable from the Gigaset One - a use at which the KX-TH1212B works well. I used a line splitter to also drive another older Panasonic home system with 4 cordless expansion handsets. We have an extension phone everywhere!

If you want a system to connect to your cell phone via bluetooth and dump your landline, buy the Siemens Gigaset One and then any old home cordless system will work very well!

At First I had some trouble until I realized certain cell phones are not designed to work with base. So check with Panasonic if your cell phone will work with base before you buy and you'll enjoy features like talking Caller ID and best block calls I've had in cordless phone ( telemarketing ) also program to phone company voice mail service and message notify so it has been rated wrong.
When you leave range Bluetooth disconnects and when you come back home it automatic reconnects and can be programmed to ring on all or just one handset. Suggest reading user manual and then enjoy I did.
