Superb voice quality,

So often with digital answerers you read reviews about poor voice quality with comments like "it sounds like people are talking underwater."
Not so with this hi-tech phone/digital answerer released by Panasonic in 2006. I ordered a KX-TS620B in a rush over holidays after my old-syle Panasonic phone/cassette answerer finally quit having 14 years of use. My new digital answering system sounds every bit as good as tape, both with the outgoing and incoming messages. Panasonic uses enhanced digital voice technology with its higher-end phones and it truly makes a difference. The only tradeoff with this unit is a mere 15 minutes of record time. That's not a big problem for me but it may not be ideal for someone who receives a lot of messages before getting a chance to review and erase. This can be done remotely from a touch-tone phone, however. All the other features with this phone/answerer are slick and easy-to-use. If high digital voice quality is an important factor for you--this is the phone to buy.

Panasonic is a leader in corded/cordless phones for a reason,
By Bruce Gilliz (Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Panasonic KX-TS620B Integrated Corded Phone with All-Digital Answering System, Black (Office Product)
It used to be that I was the kind of person who didn't really care about what kind of phone I had, so long as it reliably worked. But after having a lot of problems with no-name or unreliable phone makers' products, I decided to spend a little more and buy a Panasonic telephone. Only thing was, I didn't know whether to go for a cordless or a corded phone; after much thought, I went with a corded phone for the following reasons: *security (no scan-happy people can listen in on your converstions), *quality (the audio doesn't begin to cut out due to electromagetic interference unlike cordless phones), and *user maintenance/cost of operation (the phone doesn't require any batteries by relying an an AC unit to power the caller ID and no risk of failing, leaking batteries, charging, etc.)
I asked around quite a few retail outlets and Panasonic had the best rep among the stores and it also had the biggest presence, which led me to price shop for the best corded Panasonic I reasonably wanted to pay for. Enter the KX-TS620B. It comes with a limited one year warranty, black color, AC unit, instruction manual, and pretty much is ready to go out of the box, but I highly recommend giving the manual a good couple of reads to take advantage of the useful features this unit has to offer. This phone is no weaking in the features department. It has a 50-caller name & # phonebook, a 20-caller memory redial, 3-caller programmable direct dial, 15-minute digitally-intergrated answering service mode, remote code operation (you can call your phone remotely to check your messages), audio caller hold, speakerphone, desk and/or wall mounting, and automatic answering service (a kind gentleman's voice will leave a suitable message for your callers if you're not for it), among the standard telco features such as caller ID, call waiting, voice mail, etc. After I got through the manual, I started saving important names and #s in the phone's 'phonebook' and using the time-saving memory redial for all outgoing calls. This phone will save you a *lot* of dialing for the fact that its IC memory stores all the incoming and outgoing calls. Essentially, once you've found the # you wish to call, pick up the handset and the phone dials the # for you. Any messages I got were easily retrieved, which makes me want to mention the audio. The voices come over so clearly and I didn't notice any real degradation in the quality, which can't be said for other phones. As you can tell, I'm a big fan of this phone. My only gripe with it is the 'D-pad' button used for both the phonebook and callerlist. I found that when I wanted to enter the caller list, sometimes I'd instead be in the phonebook and vice versa. With a little persistence I mostly avoided this conflict, but it could have been avoided if Panasonic had molded four dividers into the faceplate a la the oldschool Nintendo gamepads. It's a minor thing and it won't affect the overall performance of the phone. However, but for this very little issue I would have rated the model a perfect five stars. It's good value for the money for sure.

3 minute messages and no battery backup,

Although the product information says that it is 15 minute recording time -- that is for total of all messages at one time (including outgoing message). Each individual incoming message can be no longer than 3 minutes. When listening to messages remotely you have to hit 6 key strokes to delete a message. There is no battery backup, so whenever there is a power outage you have to reprogram everything.

We prefer a corded telephone for our home office. After extensive research, I ordered this one. I am extremely happy with this telephone and have experienced "NO PROBLEMS" to date and don't expect to have any problems. It is simple to use, sleek and doesn't take up much space on the desk. People use to complain that our voices weren't clear and/or loud. I have not received one complaint from my callers since installing this telephone. I believe this is one of the best.. if not the best corded telephone on the market today. Panasonic has leaped ahead of their competition.

My company purchased two of these phone a month or two back for office use. Previously we had an AT&T - which I'll probably never own again after having a Panasonic.
The phones have great voice quality - plus some nice features you don't always find, like the hold option, data port on the back, and a nice LCD screen displaying date, time, # missed calls, # messages, and in call timer. I do wish, however, that the LCD was backlit. Another great feature is the fact that it displays the associated caller ID stamp with the message that is playing - no more guessing who left the message when! The phones have been standing up beyond our expectations - and I plan on buying Panasonic phones our next time around!

Corded Panasonic Telephone TS620B,
This review is from: Panasonic KX-TS620B Integrated Corded Phone with All-Digital Answering System, Black (Office Product)
We were looking for a telephone that was not cordless, one that would not require batteries, have clear and loud message recorder and was intuitive in setup and operation. This telephone met all those requirements and is an excellent and practical telephone. We recommend this telephone and congratulate Panasonic for developing a useful household tool!

Disappointing sound quality,
This review is from: Panasonic KX-TS620B Integrated Corded Phone with All-Digital Answering System, Black (Office Product)
When the tape recorder on our old reliable Panasonic phone died, I replaced it with this new all-digital model because of Panasonic's reputation and since few manufacturers make basic corded phones any longer. Unfortunately, the sound quality is poor and when someone is on another phone at the same time, its volume drops off considerably and cannot be increased. Another annoyance is that it has no back-up battery so that the clock must be reset if there's a power interruption - unless you also have CallerID. The answering machine is simple to use.

Panasonic phone review,

Although panasonic makes the best phones, there are 3 problems with this particular model. Firstly, there is no battery backup, so if the electricity goes off, all the memory is lost. Second, it is almost impossible to read the lcd readout for caller id, as it is black on black. And third, there is no option for raising and lowering the voice volume, which is way too loud.

Pros and Cons,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Panasonic KX-TS620B Integrated Corded Phone with All-Digital Answering System, Black (Office Product)
I was looking for a corded phone with a hold button and answering machine. My options were extremely limited. We settled for this one and although it is overall okay, it is lacking.
Pros: Looks nice on desk, big readable numbers on keys, hold button, good speaker phone, excellent voice reception for both calls and answering machine. Cons: No battery backup and no backlight. Several times when we have retrieved our messages remotely, the machine froze and we were unable to access them at all. Usually it works fine, but three times it has done this. Our previous answering machine would revert to two rings if a message was already left on the machine. This one rings the full amount, which in our case we have set to five rings. When we are accessing it remotely, we have to wait through the five rings. With our old machine if it went to three rings, we knew there were no messages left and we would just hang up. Overall a decent phone, but Panasonic needs to get with it and make some improvements. Then it could be perfect!!! |
