Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Panasonic's KX-TSC7 Corded Phone with Caller ID is an ideal phone for those who just need a simple phone and want to know who's calling. It doesn't have a lot of advanced features, but its sensible design makes it easy to use and keeps the cost down.

The KX-TSC7 has small touches that make it a great overall telephone. The LCD screen has adjustable contrast settings, and it can be configured to show either Spanish or English text. It also has a call timer, convenient for business users or people using prepaid calling cards. The LCD shows three lines at a time, so the caller's name and number can be displayed at the same time, and the phone supports caller ID/call waiting (also called visual call waiting), so you can see who's trying to reach you while you're talking to someone else. Voice-mail subscribers will appreciate the phone's ability to intercept signals from your voice mailbox and flash an alert to let you know that new messages are waiting.

When contacts call, it's easy to move their number from the caller-ID memory to a virtual address book. You can store up to 50 numbers in the phone, which you can later dial at the touch of a button. The phone's voice quality is great, helped by the fact that the handset has six volume settings instead of the usual three. The ringer on the base also has two volume settings, not including an off position.

For people with voice mail and caller ID who are looking for the voice quality of a corded phone but don't want to spend a lot of money, the KX-TSC7 is an excellent choice. --T. Byrl Baker

Pros:

  • Supports caller ID/call waiting, voice mail, and 50-number caller ID memory
  • Handset and base have multiple volume settings
  • Doesn't require power from an AC outlet
  • Bilingual display
Cons:
  • Included handset cord is short
  • Memory lost if batteries allowed to fully discharge

1.0 out of 5 stars Not suitable as a wall phone, January 4, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Panasonic KX-TSC7W Corded Phone with Caller ID (Office Product)
The display is fixed and angled down which makes it impossible to read when wall-mounted unless you are less than 4 foot tall.

The voice mail indicator is an icon on the LCD display and can not be viewed from accross the room. Most phones with this feature have a light that eluminated so you don't have to get within 1 foot of the phone to see if you have a message.

This phone didn't come with a short wall-mount cord. I used one from an old phone.

I have always been pleased with Panasonic procducts up until now. I plan to get a different phone and put this phone in a spare room where I don't have to use it.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a great phone!, June 29, 2000
This review is from: Panasonic KX-TSC7W Corded Phone with Caller ID (Office Product)
We needed a CORDED phone because the kids keep leaving the cordless in the basement or under piles of clothes somewhere. This phone has an excellent design, takes only three AA batteries (unlike other models requiring 4), has an easy to use interface with caller ID, memory, search, changeable level of contrast and clear instructions right on the phone. The ring is nice too!

2.0 out of 5 stars caller ID is difficult to use, November 6, 2000
This review is from: Panasonic KX-TSC7W Corded Phone with Caller ID (Office Product)
I had this phone but needed to replace it when it got pulled off the counter. I am just as glad to replce it because I do not like the caller ID. It is difficult to read and to manipulate to the number just called. Erasing numbers takes more time than on our old caller ID. I will look around for another phone to replace this one.
