5.0 out of 5 stars Longest distance for cordless phones
I love my 2.4 gigahertz Panasonic phone. I gives me about twice the range of my previous 900 Mhz cordless phone. I can go downstairs from my highrise (even half-way down the block) and the phone will still work. It is great when I am expecting a phone call to my land line and wish to do stuff around the house or down the block. If I need to go further, I still need...

This phone has a nice form factor; contoured to fit your face and hand. Rubber bumpers on the rounded corners make it fairly durable. Headphone jack is handy too. BUT... for all the hype (GigaRange Extreme!) it can't keep up with the two 900 MHz DSS phones I tested it against. With their base stations placed in exactly the same spot, both the Sony SPP-SS965 900 MHz Digital Spread Spectrum and a 3 year old Escort CT 9701 Digital Spread Spectrum both outperformed the Panasonic in terms of useable distance by approx 180 - 200% in diameter. I even tested two samples of the Panasonic to make sure I didn't have a defective unit.

The Panasonic is great for running around the house or a small yard, but don't expect to roam around the neighborhood and stay connected. If that's your goal, buy the Sony.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent sound quality, good battery life, great range., February 14, 2000

This review is from: Panasonic KXTG2400 2.4 GHz DSS Cordless Phone (Black) (Office Product)
This phone has one of the best sound quality that I have heard on a cordless phone (and I have had many, including 900 analog and 900 dss types). It really minimizes static and other disruptions well. It does have great range as well, although it is not as good as the panasonic promotional material makes it sound.

One thing that is often overlooked is that this phone is one of the few that uses the NiMH batteries instead of the old NiCd ones. This is a great improvement, as we all know how annoying it is to run out of juice in the middle of conversation.

One minor con: the "talk" button on this phone is surprisingly small. You do get used to it, but you wonder, what was Panasonic thinking?

Definitely get the headset for this phone. It is too cool and practical to not spend the extra $10-$20 for it. Might I recommend the Plantronic M110? I have the $10 ATT and it pinches my ear.

2.0 out of 5 stars The Sounds of Silence, January 5, 2000

This review is from: Panasonic KXTG2400 2.4 GHz DSS Cordless Phone (Black) (Office Product)
I bought the Panasonic 2.4Ghz phone because my roommates all had 900Mhz phones and I didn't want my calls interfering with their's. It worked great for about a month, then just suddenly stopped working altogether. I have yet to discover the problem and now have to send it back to Panasonic in hopes of getting one that works.

4.0 out of 5 stars Panasonic phone, December 15, 1999

The phone is good in 2.4 ghz but it switchs back to 900 mhz sometimes, so it is not that much better than a normal 900 mhz phone.

1.0 out of 5 stars There is no warranty, April 18, 2000

I received a Panasonic 2.4GHz phone as a gift. I was satisfied with the performance of the phone until the mouthpiece stopped working after 8-9 months. When I called the factory for warranty and repair information I was stonewalled. I had to wait at least six minutes everytime I called (seven times). I was promised warranty coverage ( a warranty verification letter) on two occasions but it never arrived and no one ever contacted me. On my seventh call I was informed that the phone was now out of warranty by two months and that even though I had been trying to get coverage for four months that they would not cover it. Do yourself a favor and don't buy a Panasonic phone. I'm sure that any other manufacturer would stand behind their products better than Panasonic

I bought this phone last month, and I must say that I have not had any problems with it. On the contrary, I think it is a very good phone.

The sound is very clear, and it gives you a an audible signal when the battery is almost dead. It has a very nice slim design, (almost as small as my cell phone),and I love its black color.

Best of all, there is a earphone jack provided so that you can listen through headphones. (must be made specifically for phones)

There is only one problem I have with the phone, it is that there is no volume control. Sometimes when my children are going haywire I would like to turn it up. Unfortunatly, that is not an option.

Other than that, I truly like this phone. I have been through many cordless ones over this past year, and this one is my favorite.

1.0 out of 5 stars A non starter, May 20, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Panasonic KXTG2400 2.4 GHz DSS Cordless Phone (Black) (Office Product)
I purchased this phone new to replace another Panasonic phone (900 mhz)that suddenly quit working one year after purchase. I set up the phone, charged the battery for 24 hours and then tried to use it. The phone would not work. I boxed it up, returned it and replaced it with a Uniden model EXR 2460 2.4 GHz phone that I have been very pleased with so far.

1.0 out of 5 stars save your money, July 21, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Panasonic KXTG2400 2.4 GHz DSS Cordless Phone (Black) (Office Product)
The first one I bought stopped working completely in a day or 2. Got an exchange. After about 6 months it started failing. The voice gets fuzzy after about 5 or 10 minutes of use. It's useless now. A waste of money.
