The suction is good as well.

It is not good for thick carpets though as it does not have a power motor brush, only a suction brush.

I own one of the largest Residential Cleaning Services in my State. I use this machine exclusively for my hard floor areas. I found that the suction is terrific and is equal to machines that cost hundreds more. It is simple to operate. It has no "powerhead", so it is pretty much only a hard surface vacuum. However, I found a hand held turbo attachment that works wonderful with it becaause of the great suction this machine has. It makes the turbo scream with power enough to pick up the worst pet hair on furniture and hard to get areas of carpeting between furniture and walls. I have 20 of these machines, which have lasted a long time, considering that we put 20 times more usage on them than a normal household would.

I am satisfied with this vacuum. It has a nice design. I like the fact that it's bagless and the filter system seems to be quite effective as the vacuum does not emit an unpleasant smell as I clean. The suction is perfect and the nozzle is very advanced in that it sucks up dust/dirt and sweeps it into the suction area at the same time. All the parts fit together well and don't come off/disconnect in the middle of vacuuming. It works great on parquet and low carpets. The only setback is a short retractable cord (probably standard for a lot of vacuums).

Panasonic MCCL485 Bagless Straight-Suction Canister Vacuum Cleaner

This Vacuum Cleaner is easy to assemble, light weight and bagless. It works great on hard wood floors and linoleum too! I have two pets and it did a great job sucking up pet hair on smooth surfaces. I found it easy to work with on the stairs because it is so light weight. I like all of these features. Using it on indoor-outdoor carpeting is difficult because it is difficult to push and pull the straight suction nozzle because it does not self-propel at all. Now I know exactly what straight suction means! It is wonderful for hardwood floors, stairs, cement basement, and other smooth surfaces. It is quite a work out to clean a large carpeted area though.

I have owned this vacuum for a few months. It is light and compact and generally easy to use.I liked the bag less function, but it loses power quickly as the canister fills.....I empty the canister a few times each time I vacuum th house....This would be ok for a small apartment, but it is not really suitable for large rooms....cord is too short.Panasonic products have been generally good.I wish Panasonic had spent more on the hose....it is thin plastic which kinks easily and you suddenly have a clog. The attachments fall off when cleaning soft furniture and drapes (I finally duct taped the brush on to the end piece). I guess I would buy another brand next time.I hope this review is helpful. B

I like it so far I just received it last week so I am not sure about how long it will be good. I have tons of hard surface floors so I needed a canister. I love that it is bagless. My vacuum turns on from the canister. There is one button for the cord to retract and one for the on off switch. Works great so far, picks up all the crumbs and hairs on the floor. I have two dogs. I am crossing my fingers

I read all the reviews and decided to take a chance on an offering in "Warehouse Deals". The product was listed as "Like New" and having dealt with Amazon's Warehouse Deals in the past and never having been "burned", I plopped down my $$$$ and took a chance...

Yup... the vacuum arrived nicely packaged in a non-original box with plenty of packing... but... that did not prevent the On/Off switch from behaving as badly for me as it did for most of the others... It did not function at all. My thoughts were to take the chance because I was sure the warehouse would have remedied the original problem.

So much for my thinking.

After rereading the comments on this vac, I found the one who stated he took the machine apart and repaired the power switch. Being handy with a screwdriver (lefty loosey, righty tighty) I decided to take the challenge... but only after calling Customer Service and explaining my situation with a wonderful rep named Tina. I expressed my concern about trying to make a repair, failing, and then trying to return the item. Tina put me at ease immediately; we reached an agreeable resolution, and with screwdriver in hand, I attacked the sucker (the vacuum).

There are 4 screws located on the bottom of the vacuum that hold the top and the bottom of the unit together. Once unscrewed, the vac exposed it's innards while releasing tension on the On/Off switch. I simply replaced the screws, tightened them once more (with a bit less torque than originally set) and the vacuum happily performed it's duties in a most magnificent manner when the power switch was depressed (thus releasing my slight depression).

This vacuum has a powerful suction that drives the beater bar in a highly efficient manner, in my opinion.

I was very excited about this product, Since I always had uprights. Unfortunately I received a lemon. I hooked everything up according to the manual and when I was finally ready to vacuum the power button didnt budge. Talk about ticked. I though Panasonic was awesome but now I am second guessing. I am #3 with the power button issue.
