This Panasonic commercial upright works beautifully. The design is simple and exceptionally reliable (over the years, several other manufacturers have copied this Panasonic design). The beater brush does its job well, the edge cleaning is very good, and the suction beats nearly every other brand on the market. It is simple and it works great every time we use it.
We did find a Panasonic hose and accessory kit online for about $30, so we can now take care of all of our upstairs cleaning needs. Also, we tried the Panasonic U-6 Micron bags and they are a genuine improvement over the standard U-3 bags when it comes to capturing fine particles.
This vacuum doesn't look like R2-D2, so for those who need fancy techno-gadgets, this isn't the one for you. This Panasonic is truly a commercial grade vacuum, so there is no headlight and it has a heavy-duty 50-foot orange cord with a 3-prong plug. But, if you want a super performing vacuum that is rather light weight with no on-board tools, vacuums exceptionally well, sells for half the price of the competition and will last for years, this Panasonic continues to set the standard.
Yes, its a pain about changing the bag these days but trust me, its worth it. Plus, you can find the bags online and for a lot cheaper than at any specialty shop in town. Once it stops picking up, change the bag and the difference is night and day.
I don't always write reviews but when I do, I drink dos equis, I mean, I mean it.
And yes, not having an attachment stinks but the trade off is worth it. I just got one of those rechargeable black and decker one's.
Anyways, its funny because I'm the one that always tried to get her to get rid of that old thing but turns out it's been the best all along.
The Panasonic is much quieter than today's vacuums, in its price range.

I've had this vac for a few yrs. now and no problems! I actually shortened the cord on it. I found the cord too long and cumbersome for my little home. Read morePublished 1 month ago by aimlen

Does a great job. Good, price, paid $97. Easy to roll. The cord is long so have to learn to loop it to fit on handle. Very easy to,change bags.Published 11 months ago by Barbie Doll
This vacuum is a real workhorse. I like the long cord because I plug it in and it reaches every room from this central location. It is a basic, vac and is just what I needed.Published 14 months ago by harriet feagin
Bought it 8/29/2012 and threw it away today, 2 years later. The motor has been making an awful smell after about 5 minutes of use. Read morePublished 17 months ago by Kirk Burleson
Not a good choice if you have Newfoundland dogs that shed copiously...this poor vacuum's motor burned out within six months.Published 18 months ago by Suzanne Elizabeth Anderson
Great vacuum for the price. Don't run over a bed spread as this destroys the belt almost instantly. The cord is almost to long but nice.Published 21 months ago by FIREGURU
It stopped picking up almost immediately and the belt came off and it was difficult to get back on. It still doesn't work very well and it sits in the back of the closet. Read morePublished 22 months ago by qxwoman
This vacuum works well, has a good build quality, and is light and easy to use. The only issue (and not a big one for me) is that is does NOT have hose attachments. Read morePublished 23 months ago by charniw
