Excellent Quality And A Great Bargain,
By A Customer
This review is from: Panasonic MC-V7312 Lightweight HEPA Upright Vacuum with Cord Reel (Kitchen)
This is the very best value in a high quality HEPA upright. We had the top-of-the-line Hoover Self-Propelled which we hated. I spent months comparing various brands and models so that we would not make another mistake like the heavy, clunky, disagreeable Hoover. What a wonderful discovery the Panasonic MC-V7312 is! We've used it for four months now and are thrilled with how easy it is to use, how fresh and fluffed it leaves the carpets, how inexpensive bags and filters are, and how it keeps ALL the dust inside the bag (not all over the machine like the Hoover). And it cost one-third the price of the Hoover!!!!The only feature it lacks is variable power control, which helps reduce the suction if you are using the hose attachments to clean drapes or other light fabrics. It does work perfectly on upholstered furniture, window sills, and other above-the-floor areas. But the suction is too strong for curtains and drapes. Carpeted and bare floors could not find a better cleaning companion, even at three or four times the price -- I know, I tried and was disappointed with the competitive offerings.

I will never go back to a bagless vacuum,
By A Customer
This review is from: Panasonic MC-V7312 Lightweight HEPA Upright Vacuum with Cord Reel (Kitchen)
I had bought one of those expensive bagless vacuum. It was such a hassle to use. Emptying the dirt cup and cleaning the filter would aggrevate my allergies. I avoided using it and decided to replace it as soon as I could. I read reviews on many vacuums and added this one to my wish list. I received it 5 weeks ago as a birthday and mother's day present. It was a great gift. The Panasonic is quieter than my previous vacuum and cleans even better than the previous vacuum. I enjoy cleaning again. If you are looking for a vacuum, look closely at this one--especially if you have allergies.

As stated, this vacuum has many features, we love it and it has more features than our previous panasonic. We bought a Pansonic vacuum on the advice of a vacuum repairman. We had Bissels, Dirt deveils, you name, 2 years tops they lasted. So we purchased one and that one lasted 7 hard years of use. The motor brushes finally wore down. We highly recommend an panasonic vacuum, and this one in particular. We really like the cord coilup, but the only drawback is you have to hold the cord while you vacuum.Highly recommended, Cheapest price around.

Happiness is!,

Happiness is having a vacuum cleaner that will pick up popcorn kernels, whole french fries, and sunflower seed shells - without having to use the hose. I am very pleased with this model's performance on carpet. I discovered that our carpet was still soft and springy! I can see the indentions of my footsteps behind me as I vacuum, now! It does, however, leave a bit to be desired on bare floors. It works well if you don't stop the brush from rotating (carpet setting), but if you choose the bare floor setting (suction only), it does very little.I used to have a "good, quality" bagless vacuum - one that rates 4 or 5 stars, depending on where you look. It was a pain in the rump. In order to pick up popcorn kernels or french fries (I have three kids), I had to use the hose. Sunflower seed shells would get stuck in the carpet, and the vacuum did nothing to pick them up. I had to empty the canister at least twice everytime I swept, and the filter was constantly clogged. Emptying the canister and cleaning out the filter aggrevated my allergies to no end. I'm happy to say that I'm thrilled to have gone back to a vacuum cleaner with a bag. I've been using it for about three weeks, and I have yet to need to change the bag! As for the cord reel, I couldn't be more pleased. You choose the speed at which it retracts via a foot pedal. There is none of the fear of being whipped with the cord like there was with Mom's old retracting cord vacuums. I was able to find replacement filters (it is suggested the filter be changed at least yearly) online at a fraction of the cost of other brands. Bags and belts were inexpensive, as well. Through Amazon, I managed to buy the vacuum, 50 bags, 4 belts, and 6 filters for less than the list price of the vacuum itself. And, of course, I got free shipping.

I bought this vacuum from amazon.com for $118.00 with free shipping. My local sweeper store, where I would have had to drive over and pick it up, had it for $169.00 and refused to do any price matching. You just can't beat that value. This vacuum replaced an older Panasonic that I've had and loved for many years but that was no longer cleaning as well as it used to. I also needed one with a HEPA filter this time due to allergy problems. The first time I used this vacuum, I was amazed at the amount of dust it picked up. I had no idea how much dust had been hiding in my carpets until I used it. Now the carpets are so clean, they feel as if they've been shampooed. It's also relatively easy to use, although you do have to remember to keep the on-board tools in their holders unless you have switched the lever to "Tools;" otherwise, the vacuum will spit dust bunnies through the tool holders. (I'm told most vacuums do the same thing, but I wasn't used to it at first). The one drawback I found with this vacuum cleaner was that it's much heavier and harder to push than my old one. Of course, this one has a lot more power too--12 amps instead of the 7 amps I'm used to. The vacuum just does not glide over the carpet, and that's the one complaint I have about it. Since the HEPA filter weighs almost nothing, I assume the motor is what's so heavy. Whatever causes that heavy, draggy feeling, they should redesign that part. (Panasonic, are you listening?) Other than that, it's an excellent vacuum cleaner, and it even has a cord reel, a feature I've been missing for years on vacuum cleaners. Once you've had a cord reel, you never want to go back to manually winding that cord, trust me. It's actually fun to press the lever and watch the machine suck the cord back up. Panasonic makes quality vacuum cleaners, and this is one of them.

Have had this product for a few years and it still works fine. Longer than other vacuums in this price range.

I just received this vacuum cleaner today and have had a few problems already. When I first started using it I noticied a burning smell and noticed smoke coming out of the base. I then realized that the "carpet-bare floor selector" was not in the correct position according to the product manual (this can cause the belt to rub on it and create the burning smell). This lever is VERY DIFFICULT to adjust between the carpet and bare floor option. After moving it completely into position I noticed that the lever continued to pop back and would not stay in place and of course the vacuum cleaner continues to smoke while using it. Also the cord does not push easily into the 2 cord clips on the back of the handle.I'm in the process of contacting Panasonic to see if there is a solution. The price of the vacuum cleaner was unbeatable and it is an attractive design, but I'm afraid it has some fatal flaws. I seem to be the only one out of all the reviews who has experienced the problems above. |
