This affordable and simple-to-use iron comes primed to press your button-down shirts every morning before work. While this steam/dry iron has few controls, it does have the essential features for producing great results. A temperature dial offers six settings with the lower settings designed for delicate fabrics and the higher settings for use with steam on wrinkly cottons and linens. Just in case you are stumped as to what constitutes a delicate fabric, a fabric chart is posted on the iron’s rear side for reference. A steam button on the top of the iron’s handle has three positions--high, low, or off--and can be adjusted for each garment. The iron also has a spray mist button, which sends a blast of extra moisture directly in front of the area you are ironing. A large transparent blue window makes it easy to monitor when the water for steam and mist needs to be refilled. This electric steam iron has a nonstick soleplate, which glides easily over clothing and reduces the chance of burns. Finally, for safety, the iron automatically shuts off in 60 seconds if left unattended in a face-down position or on its side, and in 10 minutes if left sitting upright. Panasonic covers this flatiron under a one-year limited warranty.
