5.0 out of 5 stars Nicer than my old Sharp oven
I am really pleased with this microwave-convection oven. I bought it as a replacement for a Sharp microwave-convection oven which I had been using for the past eight years.
It is much quieter and more powerful than the Sharp model. You can barely hear it while using it in convection mode. The Sharp model sounded like it might explode at any minute.

1.0 out of 5 stars Stay away from this oven!
I tried twice to get one of these ovens to work correctly. Each oven was unable to pre heat to the correct temperature or cook at the correct temperature. They were both off by 50-100 degrees F. Luckily Amazon.com didn't charge to return them.

I also like the ceramic turntable in this oven. The Sharp had an aluminum turntable. This one is much easier to clean and much quieter.

Amazon.com shipped this oven to me much quicker than their original expected shipping date. That made me happy, as I was looking forward to having my new oven.
I haven't used the oven in my electric range since purchasing my first microwave-convection oven. I would recommend it highly to anyone seeking a new baking or microwaving appliance.

I bought this Panasonic Microwave/Convection oven for my grandmother to replace an old Sharp micro/conv oven.
This unit is better in appearance and quality of workmanship fit and finish.
It is easier to program and this is a plus for my grandmother who is lo-tech.
I highly recommend this unit.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy and intuitive to operate, July 13, 2004
By A Customer
This is the third convection microwave I have owned. This has so many useful and convenient features. All the auto cook programs perform flawlessly. However there are a few design flaws that keep me from giving this oven a five star rating. The turntable is ceramic. Not metal. One slip and I am afraid that I will smash it. Oven walls are stainless steel not Teflon as my previous oven had for easy cleaning. Once oven program is set, panel does not remind you what mode or power level it is on. Not terribly important feature however I miss it. When convection cooking only one tray can be cooked at one time. The others I have owned had racks that allowed two cake pans simultaneously. My biggest complaint and I know I'm nit picking, is that this convection oven cooks and bakes slow. It does cook evenly however the whole point of a convection oven is for food to cook faster than in a conventional oven. This definitely bakes and cooks slower than my regular gas oven.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product - Lousy Company, June 15, 2004
We just got this microwave. So far, it works well. We are very satisfied with the appliance. However, if you plan to buy an extended warranty from panasonic, they will not sell you one on a product purchased through Amazon. They said that since many Amazon products are pre-owned (true), they will not offer extended warranties. Even though our microwave is new, Panasonic will not allow us to buy an extended "Customer Care Plan". I'm not sure they will even honor the manafacturer's warranty. Great product, but heaven help you if you have to deal with Panasonic!

I was very disappointed using this oven the first time. I noticed that my chicken wasn't cooking as fast as it did in my previous convection oven, a GE. I put an oven thermometer inside and found that whatever temperature I set it for, it only heated up to 50 degrees less. I hope the replacement is better and that I don't have to wait another month for it.

It is just what I wanted. I have had a similar Panasonic conv/
micro in the past. It was 14 years old when it finally 'gave up'!

1.0 out of 5 stars beware, November 21, 2004

The unit I received was missing three of the screws that hold the top on. I suspected that it was a refurbished unit, although that is not what I bought.

If it was refurbished, it was not fixed properly. It would develop full microwave power at first, but after any other microwave power setting was chosen, it would never develop full power again unless the machine was unplugged. Even if it said the power level was 10, it would only develop a power level of about 7. If you unplugged the machine, it would again be capable of running at full power until you set the power setting for something else, which started it all again.

What a disappointment. Returned.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great with a caveat, February 23, 2006
This review is from: Panasonic NN-C980B 1.5-Cubic-Foot Microwave Convection Oven, Black (Kitchen)
Works great, Browns wonderfully.
But my oven has one problem. The power recall button does not work. (that's the button you push to display the power setting you selected ) It still does what you told it to, you just can't check the power setting after you push start.

5.0 out of 5 stars Completely satisfied., May 20, 2004

The 1.5 Panasonic Convection oven supplements a wall oven for baking...a joy when cooking for many or simply large roll or cookie receipes. As a microwave it is excellent.
