Product Description

Amazon.com Review

This 1350-watt, 1.2-cubic-feet microwave from Panasonic combines high power output with convenient features for minimal effort from the cook. To eliminate guesswork and the need for constant monitoring, Panasonic equips this oven with its Genius sensor cooking technology. The Genius system automatically adjusts power levels and cooking times, no matter what the food is, so you can simply push a button on the touchpad and walk away. With 10 power levels and 15 one-touch Genius food categories, the microwave performs well with everything from breakfast to beverages. It also comes with Genius one-touch reheating and Panasonic’s Inverter turbo defrost for fast and thorough results. Other handy functions include a keep-warm setting, a delay-start function, and a more/less control to tailor settings to your preferences. The standard details are also here--timer, clock, child safety lock, quick minute button, and popcorn key. Panasonic also includes a multi-lingual action screen and an automatic glass turntable measuring 13-1/2 inches in diameter. --Emily Bedard

5.0 out of 5 stars Great microwave from Panasonic, August 30, 2003
By
"jb1964" (Palo Alto, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Panasonic NN-S563BF 1.2-Cubic-Foot 1350-Watt Microwave, Black (Kitchen)
I decided to let others know what a great microwave this is -- I own the previous model (NN-S562) which is nearly identical to this model. The NN-S563 has the following updates over the previous model:

-- Additional 50 Watts power for total of 1350W
-- New Beverage and Keep Warm buttons
-- Bacon button has been removed

I have been using the NN-S562 for over a year now and I am continually impressed with its performance with each new item that I nuke. I bought this unit to replace a 17 year old Panasonic that was still going strong, but had an interior that was rusting out. My old microwave had a manual, rotary timer dial and only 500 Watts of power -- however, it was very easy to use. I bought this Panasonic after learning that the Sensor Reheat function was as simple as pushing 2 buttons (Reheat & Start), which greatly appealed to me. I thought the inverter technology was a lot of hype, until I reheated some mac & cheese -- evenly heated, no major cold spots and no overdone crusty edges! Same with reheating pizza and numerous other items. And the 1300 Watts of power gets the job done in less than half the time my old oven took. Popcorn is a breeze with the Popcorn button -- and no misguessing the time and having charred popcorn. The only item to caution users about is that there are exhaust vents on the left side of the cabinet which necessitate leaving at least an inch of room between the oven and the wall on that side -- otherwise, the unit will run very hot (you can feel this on the top of the cabinet near the magnetron tube). Also, it would be nice if the oven light came on when the door was opened to facilitate cleaning (it only comes on when running). Other than those minor drawbacks, I have only praise for this microwave -- I am looking forward to many more years of dependable service from a Panasonic appliance.

Update: No, I don't work for Panasonic -- I'm just a person who has used their microwave products at home for almost two decades without a problem. And, as clearly stated in the opening lines, this review is for the previous model which is nearly identical to the current NN-S563.

5.0 out of 5 stars Defrost Feature is Wonderful, March 12, 2004
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Panasonic NN-S563BF 1.2-Cubic-Foot 1350-Watt Microwave, Black (Kitchen)
This microwave defrosts perfectly without cooking the edges, just as other reviewers said it would. This was a big selling point for me, and I am very pleased. The sensor feature is also excellent. You can cook items according to whether they are entrees, side dishes, snacks, etc., without having to enter time and power.

The microwave is the same size, color, and wattage of the one it replaced - some of the reasons I selected it, since I don't have a lot of counter space - but it is much more powerful, and cooks in considerably less time than package instructions advise. The only problem so far is a tiny one - the printed plastic sheet covering the control panel is already getting "bubbly."
