Product Description

Amazon.com Review

This 1.6-cubic-foot, 1,300-watt microwave from Panasonic combines a roomy structure with precise and versatile programming options. One of its most attractive features is the Inverter cooking technology. While many microwaves deliver lower power levels by firing full force and then letting food sit while the clock winds down, Panasonic's Inverter models actually adjust power output for the full duration of cooking time. The result is 10 true power levels, more even cooking, and minimal icy or hot spots. This oven also features Inverter turbo defrost, for quicker and more consistent thawing. To complement the Inverter technology, Panasonic builds in the Genius sensor to automatically adjust cooking power and time for up to 18 one-touch food categories. You can also program cooking time yourself or cook by food weight or quantity. The control panel takes a little practice, but includes several convenient features to help you get used to it, like prompter cues, adjustable word speed, and a multilanguage menu. Panasonic also comes through with the indispensable popcorn, quick-minute, and keep-warm buttons. Other nice features include delay-start functionality, a child-safety lock, a timer, and a rotating glass turntable. --Emily Bedard

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Microwave EVER!!!, July 23, 2002

This review is from: Panasonic NN-S762WF 1.6 Cu. Ft., 1300-Watt Microwave, White (Kitchen)
I am a Owner Operator Truck Driver. I live in my truck about 330 days a year. I do allot of cooking in my microwave. While in San Antonio,Tx.my microwave stoped working in the middle of cooking a 11lb bone in ham. We went to the store and bought a Panasonic NN-SA76WF 1.6 Cu. Ft 1300 Watt microwave. It was called a Invertor but I was not sure what that ment. It means NO HOT SPOTS and even cooking with out power surgers!!!! I cooked the ham. In my other microwave the skin would turn black like burned, not in this microwave!! I cooked Chicken in a Mc Cormick cooking bag. It is cut up chicken with gravy. In my other Microwave oven the gravy would be very thick. In the Panisonic it was like gravy made on top of the stove. My daught loved it so much I gave her the Panasonic and I will be ordering one for me now!!I was not sure if I wanted a 1300 Watt microwave, not sure how much time to take off of my recipes I was use to. I used the same time and my meals were perfect!! We cooked cup cakes. They were perfect, better than out of a regular oven. The price is low!!!! Thank You for giving me a chance to tell what a wounderful Microwave Oven by Panasonic Invertor is!! Thank you

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply beautiful!, July 16, 2002

I loved the clean simple look of this microwave in the picture. And reality didn't disappoint. It's beautiful and ya gotta love the stainless steel. By the way, the door is stainless steel (with glass), but the top and sides feel like some other material that's been powder-coated to a silvery stainless look.

It's very easy to use. The instruction booklet is very thorough, to a fault .. the amount of detail is almost scary. But on the back there's a quick-start guide that's very easy to follow. Plus when you push a button, the display scrolls a message telling you what to do next. I love the display: it's small but the numbers/letters are big and bright, and it has this very cool arrow scrolling across the bottom during cooking. At the end of the cooking cycle it even scrolls "Enjoy your meal". Hehee

The inside is very roomy, well-lighted and has a 15" glass tray that rotates. It's easy to clean. It's not too loud....I'm glad I got this one, as the 2.2 would have taken up way too much counter space.

All in all, I love it and highly recommend it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Genius Sensor, December 7, 2002
By A Customer
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Panasonic NN-S762WF 1.6 Cu. Ft., 1300-Watt Microwave, White (Kitchen)
If you haven't bought a microwave in a while, and don't know about this Geniun sensor cooking function, it is the greatest thing since packaged microwave popcorn.
You just tell the oven what you are cooking and it figures out how long to cook. It has sensors that gage how hot and steamy the food is, and stops when the food is steamy and hot enough. So, I'll have no learning curve time trying to figure out how long this microwave needs to heat stuff as compared with my old wimpy one. Of course, you can still set the timer yourself if you want to know the future with certainty- when the heck is it going to beep!!
Speaking of the beep, it is quite tolerable. My last one was so annoying that I wanted to stand there and stop it with 1 sec left just so I wouldn't hear that sound.
This is the biggest microwave I've seen in a while. the 2.O cf was bigger than my tv, so it looked a little rediculous. The 1.6 is plently big enough.
And the scrolling text is a scream, especially when it's scrolling "Hot Dog" like the walking venders at a baseball game: Ho-o-o-o-o-ot Do-o-o-o-og!
I was originally excited about the Inverter Defrost thing, but after reading the manuel, I decided my expectation of microwave defrosting was unrealistic in general- there is going to have to be stand time after something comes out of the oven, no matter how fancy the defrost cycle name is.
I love this big oven and am seeking out the largest microwave safe dishes available now.
