5.0 out of 5 stars had to read the instructions but I'm loving it
..although I read some previous negative reviews along with the positive ones, overall I really like this microwave. the design & the smaller size fit our needs perfectly. Since it is a replacement for a much lower wattage microwave that my husband had before we got married, we found the 1300 watts very powerful and yes, if you don't read the manual and turn everything on...

1.0 out of 5 stars Microwave exploded in our kitchen, June 26, 2006
This review is from: Panasonic NN-T695SF Family-Size 1.2-Cubic-Foot 1,300-Watt Microwave Oven, Stainless (Kitchen)
This microwave exploded in our kitchen after 6 months. We were reheating food in a glass bowl we have been using in microwaves for years. Gray smoke came out and there was a loud bang. I am not sure if inhaling the smoke was harmful to us. When I called Panasonic (this took 3 separate phone calls), we were misdirected to a local technician who said he would charge us for the repairs even though we were in the warranty period. I called panasonic back (this took 2 separate phone calls), and they said they had given me the wrong information and I should ship the oven to them directly. Panasonic first made me sign a release saying I would not sue them. All this took a month without my microwave working and a lot of discomfort at home. After testing it, Panasonic called me and said they would refund my original cost if I renounced all rights to the oven and to suing them. The microwave had a "random failure" explosion. This sounds very fishy to me. I am an electrical engineer and this sounds like a cover up or potential silent recall to me. It has been 2 months and I am still waiting for the money. I would not buy another microwave from Panasonic. Their service was very bad and the pieces are defective.

4.0 out of 5 stars POWERFUL, SLEEK, EASY TO OPERATE, BUT...., February 15, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Panasonic NN-T695SF Family-Size 1.2-Cubic-Foot 1,300-Watt Microwave Oven, Stainless (Kitchen)
This oven was purchased because of it's sleek looks and relatively small width. It is a 1,300 watt unit and shows it! It cooks VERY fast and quietly. The controls are very easy to learn and use. The owner's manual is complete and easy to read and understand. I have only TWO complaints. ONE: When opening and closing the door the oven sounds like a huge Cambell soup can. VERY hollow and echoing metal sound making it sould cheap. They did not use enough sound deadening material in the construction of the cover and door it appears. There is no way I could have known this befor purchase since this oven was not available in my city. TWO: There is NO LIGHT that comes on when the oven door is open! UNBELIEVABLE! The only light illuminates when the oven door is closed and the oven is working. What the designers were thinking I don't know. However, the features far outweigh the deficiencies and I'd buy it over again even if I DID know of these two problems.

Since it is a replacement for a much lower wattage microwave that my husband had before we got married, we found the 1300 watts very powerful and yes, if you don't read the manual and turn everything on at full power, like my husband was used to doing, it will splatter, etc... but that is natural. But after reading the manual and following the sensor cook, and sensor reheating instructions, I'm loving it..it works perfect.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dialing for Dinners, September 12, 2005
This review is from: Panasonic NN-T695SF Family-Size 1.2-Cubic-Foot 1,300-Watt Microwave Oven, Stainless (Kitchen)
This is a beautiful microwave, if microwave ovens can be beautiful. It is very confusing to use at first. You need to follow the directions, but they're not that clear. If you think when you program at first, it soon becomes very easy. My husband had a difficult time adjusting to something out of the ordinary. I bought this for its power. No more having to run things through twice! I love my new microwave!

It's wonderful. Boiling water or reheating food dishes -- the two things I use a microwave for -- it's a two-button operation: "sensor reheat" and then "start". The automatic sensor turns the machine off when it's done. The oven features a variable-power emitter, so food is heated evenly without undue use of power.

Every other microwave over I've had has "power settings", but really those other ovens are either "completely on" or "off", just cycling the emitter on and off while keeping the fan and turntable going. You could drive your car that way, but it would be hard to park without denting a fender. And the cooking results for other ovens can likewise be less than precise.

In contrast, THIS is a microwave with cruise control. Panasonic's microwaves recently gained top marks in a prominent conumer product test. The stainless-steel exterior finish rivals ovens costing 3-5 times as much. The door, latch, and release all have a solid feel to them. Amazon had a promotional rebate at the time so I got the oven for a bit over $100. You can't do better than that.

5.0 out of 5 stars Panasonic NN-T695SF Stainless Microwave, January 9, 2007

This review is from: Panasonic NN-T695SF Family-Size 1.2-Cubic-Foot 1,300-Watt Microwave Oven, Stainless (Kitchen)
I did some quick research on my 16 year old microwave replacement and all the places I looked recommended this unit. I love it!, it far exceeded anything I have used anywhere. It"s very light ,easy to use,and easy to clean. The user friendly display is great.I tried several different leftover re-heats using the Sensor Reheat feature. It didn"t over-cook anything or dry it out.The popcorn feature is very good also ,cooking without burning. The stainless surface wipes clean with a damp cloth. The only draw back I found is the lack of an interior light.

The one-touch SENSOR REHEAT feature is amazing. Put in anything you want heated, close the door, press "sensor reheat" and "start". That's it. It starts immediately and heats whatever you have in there perfectly. No cold spots. No hot spots. Baby Bear "Just Right".

The Panasonic 'inverter' microwave ovens are notoriously unreliable - try Googling for 'panasonic inverter microwave problems'. The inverter component board is prone to overheating (in an oven - go figure) and then failing within 1 - 2 years. Mine just turned itself into a giant paperweight after 2 years of very light use. I like the Panasonic brand as a whole (I consider their cordless phones to be pretty much flawless), but it amazes me that Panasonic continues to risk damaging their reputation by foisting this inept inverter technology on the unsuspecting public. Do yourselves a favor and stay away from these Panasonic inverter ovens.

It has worked great thus far, looks very nice too. Major upgrade over our old microwave, it can actually defrost meat correctly, now for the true test, can it properly cook popcorn. We obviously upgraded from a very old and poor microwave, but we are very happy with this one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Only if you want to do maintenance, November 2, 2005
This review is from: Panasonic NN-T695SF Family-Size 1.2-Cubic-Foot 1,300-Watt Microwave Oven, Stainless (Kitchen)
Mine went to the shop 4 times in the first year. Unfortunately, the 5th time was after the first year meaning after the warranty expired. It's a big paperweight now since cost of repairs is more than value of microwave. STAY AWAY unless you think the value of trips to the repair shop and the right to buy a new microwave in a year justify the price.
