4.0 out of 5 stars Great for the price
First I wanted to say that the comment about it not having a tape counter, almost talked me out of buying this model. However it DOES have a counter, perhaps the reviewer was referring to the fact that it isn't displayed on the front panel, only on the TV.

My only disappointment with this unit is the remote. The lighted button idea sounded great, but all it does is...

2.0 out of 5 stars Didn't meet my standards
I bought the PV-9450 looking for a cheap 4-Head Hi-Fi VCR. The picture on this VCR was very good, however the Hi-Fi sound had some noticable interferance (Static etc.). The VCR also had a loud ticking noise, this would happen when watching video, recording and just when the VCR was on. This VCR also does not have a timer on the unit, this is a feature I like. I...

First I wanted to say that the comment about it not having a tape counter, almost talked me out of buying this model. However it DOES have a counter, perhaps the reviewer was referring to the fact that it isn't displayed on the front panel, only on the TV.

My only disappointment with this unit is the remote. The lighted button idea sounded great, but all it does is light the big VCR-related buttons which are easy enough to distinquish by feel. I hoped it would light the small, clumped together, buttons.

Otherwise the picture quality is great, as is the sound, and I like some of the extras, such as; channel labeling, "remaining tape" display, labeled indexing, and the "skip one minute" button.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love my panasonic vcr!, December 2, 1999

I bought the model before: the PV-8450 two years ago after some research in consumer reports. The 8450 has super reliability (no problems) and picture and sound quality comparable to the top vcr brands (sony, mitsubitshi, and toshiba.) I also really like the fact that this vcr can record in LP mode. Tapes in LP mode hold 4 hours and play better in my panasonic than other vcrs. I was so impressed, i also went out and got the PV-945H. This one is just as good if not better and has some added custimize onscreen labels for programs. Super vcrs! The only problem is the odd shape of the remote.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS, December 15, 1999

The picture quality is better than my JVC 4 head Hi Fi VCR.The stereo dbx sound is flawless. The remote works quicker than any Ihave ever used. It records stereo movies from Showtime and HBO to tapes that equal factory videos. Still pictures are completely noiseless, as in search and reveiw. The only complaint I have is that the so called lighted remote is not really lighted. I own eight VCR's and this is the least expensive one I have purchased. And yet it is just about the best.

My husband and I are completely satisfied with this VCR! By the way, Wal-Mart charges more on their website for exactly the same model (Panasonic PV-9450).

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent value for the money, BUT!......, August 13, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Panasonic PV-9450 4-Head Hi-Fi VCR (Electronics)
Just bought the PV-9450 and now having it for two weeks I can say it is a fine player / recorder, the picture is sharp and clear as is the sound, I like the clean look of the vcr also, now the BUTS!...

My main complaint, no pause button on the vcr, if I go out of the room I have to find and use the vcr remote just to pause the tape.

The remote is very clumsy, and hard to read the gold on gray button descriptions in low light.

I also feel that a cd button should be added.

But all in all a fine product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Kid friendly with grown-up picture quality, July 19, 1999

This review is from: Panasonic PV-9450 4-Head Hi-Fi VCR (Electronics)
The straightforward design of the front panel have made this a winner for my two- and six-year olds. It was a snap for them to learn the basics -- play, stop, rewind, eject -- and the picture quality is first-rate. The remote's a real dud, however. Clunky and cluttered.

4.0 out of 5 stars Overall Good Value!, July 14, 1999

This review is from: Panasonic PV-9450 4-Head Hi-Fi VCR (Electronics)
This VCR is extremely well designed and is the lightest VCR Ihave ever handled! The PV9450 makes quite a bit of noise whenplaying/recording a tape (more than other VCRs I've used). Regardless of that I would recommend this piece of equipment to anyone looking for a good VCR at a reasonable price.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best VCR I've ever owned., February 8, 2000
By
Richard Engelhardt (Boca Raton, FL United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Panasonic PV-9450 4-Head Hi-Fi VCR (Electronics)
I love this VCR. My favorite feature is that the clock sets itself by getting the time from the cable. That is great because I never have a blinking "12:00" anymore. Whenever the power goes out and comes back on, the clock instantly sets itself. Programming is the easist feature of them all. I can program up to 8 different blocks of time and it only takes about 30 seconds to program for one recording. Actually installing it to my TV and attatching the cable took about a minute. I didn't refer to the directions at all the entire time. And once it was all plugged in, it did all this stuff instantly and was ready to go. GET THIS VCR.
