Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Feature rich and a real space saver, this combination unit from Panasonic houses a color TV, two-head VCR, FM tuner with nine station presets and auto scan, and an auto set clock and timer with alarm. The PV-C1321's soft filter delivers a sharp, balanced picture to its 13-inch screen. The sound quality of this unit's single built-in speaker is surprisingly full, and an earphone jack on the front panel grants private listening.

Audio-video inputs are also located on the front panel, making a camcorder, game console, or component easier to connect. Keep in mind that there is just one audio input and one composite-video input with this unit.

The PV-C1321 employs a standard 181-channel TV/cable TV tuner. Its clear and concise onscreen programming makes setup simple, as does a multilanguage display option. With it, you can read onscreen menus and guides in English, Spanish, or French.

Its two-head VCR is easily operated using either the front-panel controls or the included push-button remote control. A selectable commercial skip lets you breeze past commercials in one-, two-, or three-minute increments, making tape playback all the more enjoyable.

Panasonic also includes index search, a convenient feature that adds an element of precision to archiving recordings by applying a numeric code to first index the recording. Later, you can use this code as a search command to quickly locate the recording on a tape.

If you don't want to watch TV or a videotape, there's always the built-in FM tuner with a nine-station memory preset. It also comes with auto scan, so that you can rapidly search for the FM station you want.

Another handy feature is the PV-C1321's built-in clock with auto set and timer with alarm. The clock sets and updates automatically by receiving the data signal from your local PBS channel, so you never have to set the time. And, in the event of a power outage, the time and date resets automatically (within 24 hours). The timer lets you set the PV-C1321's TV, video, or tuner functions to turn off or on at a given time. It also includes a tone alarm.

With its compact size, the Panasonic PV-C1321 is suitable for any size of home or room. And with a V-chip parental lock that blocks specific channels, it can help you guide your children's TV viewing, making it especially well suited for a child's room.

This combination unit comes with remote control and two AA batteries. The PV-C1321 is covered by a 1-year warranty on parts, 2 years on the picture tube, and 90 days on labor.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quality, but not user-friendly, May 16, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Panasonic PV-C1321 13-Inch TV/VCR Combo , Black (Electronics)
The performance and picture quality of this unit are all up to Panasonic's usual standards. You won't be disappointed. However, if you are one of the many people who have trouble programming a VCR, skip this unit. The remote is used for all TV and VCR functions with the tiny buttons serving dual purposes. The layout is not intuitive or user-friendly. I usually have no problem using electronics but I find myself taking more time than necessary to program this unit. In its defense, this is our alternate VCR/TV and thus it isn't used to often. Maybe with more use it would get easier. Four stars only because of issues mentioned.

3.0 out of 5 stars Panasonic has let me down, July 31, 2001

This review is from: Panasonic PV-C1321 13-Inch TV/VCR Combo , Black (Electronics)
When buying electronics such as VCR's, TV's and cordless telephones I exclusively buy Panasonic. That is because I have had a Panasonic 19" TV for about 8 years that works great, a Panasonic VCR that has worked without a problem for 6 years and a phone that worked great that I gave up a while ago to get a 900mHz, both of which are solid pieces. I recently moved into a place that I thought could use a TV/VCR combo. Now, I have always been warned to stay away from these since if one component goes haywire, you lose the other. I have always abided by this rule until I decided I could trust Panasonic with it because I have been lucky and never had a TV or VCR break before I traded in for a more advanced model.

My fears were realized 35 days after I bought this TV/VCR. Up until the point where it refused to eject a tape or answer to any VCR commands from the remote or unit I was very impressed with the machine, which is why it received the 3 stars from me that it did. However I am very disappointed that it only took 35 days for a problem to develop when I have owned many of their products for years without incident.

I hope that this is a defective unit because I would hate to lose confidence in Panasonic as I have in Sony which only seems to concentrate on high end items, leaving its lower priced fleet an unreliable mess in mothballs.

1.0 out of 5 stars Panasonic PV-C1331W 13" TV/VCR Combo with FM - Don't buy it!, February 21, 2002
By A Customer
I have had two of these units fail within 6 weeks with the same identical problem. The audio record head fails to function. This means that you can record a new show and the sound track from whatever you are taping over remains as the sound for the new show. This makes for interesting viewing!

Panasonic has discontinued this model, I wonder why?
