Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

The PV-C1342 from Panasonic offers VHS recording and playback and the viewing capabilities of a 13-inch TV. Your camcorder or gaming console plugs right into the set's front panel for hassle-free connections, and an earphone jack affords private listening.

The PV-C1342's four-head design ensures smooth slow-motion play (forward and reverse) and clear still-frame images. Commercial skip marks the beginning and end of each commercial break, so you can skip the commercials during recorded programs (rolls past three minutes of commercials in about 25 seconds). Index search lets you zip right to your predefined index points. The set's trilingual onscreen display (English, Spanish, French) simplifies setup and shows tape status as well as tape position.

Panasonic has set up the PV-C1342 with Ready-to-Play: as soon as you plug it in, the combo automatically sets its own clock and local TV channels. A 24-hour power backup maintains settings through most power outages.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not happy with this item, July 20, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Panasonic PV-C1342 13-Inch TV/VCR Combo , Black (Electronics)
I bought last year's model of this item, essentially the same item. It worked great at first, although the complaints about volume control turned out to be true for me as well. I had to crank up the volume to watch a tape, and then when the tape was turned off, the tv would blare. My biggest complaint is that after 3 1/2 months, the VCR quit working altogether. Nothing happened to cause it to break, it just stopped functioning, with a tape stuck inside. I've had a stand alone VCR for 8 years that still works--3 1/2 months is not very long. The warranty for labor, of course, is 3 months. Usually Panasonic has quality products--I don't know if this was a fluke, or the advice of others to stay away from combos is true.

I had the same problem with the audio on the tape playback. Needed to be almost twice as loud as the normal TV level. Took it to shop 4 times in the first six months of ownership. They said it was normal. Panasonic refused to help me with the issue. So, I own it, it doesn't work well, and less tha two months of usage by me. My advice is to buy seperate pieces. I think they are better made.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kitchen TV/VCR, January 8, 2003

I must be lucky. I have the white unit in my kitchen and it has worked flawlessly for almost a year now. It has beautiful color as all PanaBlack tubes do. I consider it the perfect size for the kitchen. It is not big enough for your main tv, but that is not what it is designed for. Very satisfied with mine.
