Product Description

From the manufacturer

The Panasonic PV-DF2700 is a convenient, all-in-one color TV, DVD player and VHS video system that eliminates the need to connect wires between your TV and VCR. The self contained unit is easy to move and has a PureFlat picture tube for high quality video reproduction. Special features include 3-line digital comb filter, 2-tuner picture-in-picture, VCR Plus+ programming, 4-head video system, commercial skip, and program end search.

The PureFlat television picture tube delivers natural images from corner to corner, getting rid of the distortion that comes with conventional curved screens. So no matter where you sit in the room, you're guaranteed the best picture possible. With the 3-line digital comb filter, dot crawl and cross-color interference are minimized to produce a superb picture.

This unit features 2-tuner picture-in-picture, a handy feature that lets you watch a TV show and a video or even two TV channels at the same time by inserting a smaller image into the main show you're watching. Plus, you can even watch one TV program while you're recording another one.

This combo unit features a Stereo TV sound system and a built in MTS tuner to receive stereo broadcasts, while the separate audio program (SAP) allows the sight-impaired to enjoy special narration. SAP can also be used to receive broadcasts in other languages. The auto scan feature lets you scan through stations automatically to find what you want to hear.

The PV-DF2700 includes two video heads dedicated to recording and playback in the SP mode, and two dedicated to the SLP mode. With 4 heads, picture quality is vastly improved in each of the respective speeds. The 4 heads also lend themselves to noiseless field still, double-fine slow, double-speed playback, and high-speed OmniSearch.

The VCR Plus+ feature makes it simple to program your VCR. Every program has a PlusCode number that can be found in most newspaper and magazine TV listings. All you have to do is enter this number and your timer is automatically set.

The time stamp feature helps you recognize what you've recorded onto a particular tape by tagging the beginning of each new recording and displaying the starting date and time, ending time, and the channel it was taped from. During playback, you can press the "CM Zero" button to advance the tape in 1, 2, or 3- minute increments, letting you skip unwanted scenes or commercials. By simply pressing the "search" button twice, you'll jump right to the end of the current recorded program, allowing easy access to the next one.

The included universal, illuminated remote control operates most TVs and cable/DSS boxes, helping reduce the number of remote controls you have lying around.

Other convenience features include V-Chip parental lockout, which allows parents to block out specific channels so children won't have access to inappropriate material, and auto clock set with back up. This feature sets the clock automatically, using the Extended Data Service signal from your local PBS channel, and resets the clock in the event of a power outage.

The Panasonic PV-DF2700 Pure Flat TV/DVD/4-Head Hi-Fi VCR combo comes with a warranty of 1-year on parts and 90 days on labor.

1.0 out of 5 stars low sound/volume when playing dvd's, December 8, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Panasonic PV-DF2700 27-Inch Pure Flat TV-DVD-VCR Combo (Electronics)
i bought one of these from cosco for $...and loved the overall set. however, whenever we played a dvd, we had to turn the volume up to its highest level in order to get normal sound. we called panasonic and they finally said it was a defective set and to return it,etc. the pasasonic people were less than friendly and could have cared less about the problem. we went to circut city and looked at the same set. guess what? the same problem with the sound when playing a dvd. the bottomline is that panasonic is no longer welcome in our house and we'll never buy anything from them again. they don't care about the customer or care about making anything right.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great product!, July 11, 2001

This review is from: Panasonic PV-DF2700 27-Inch Pure Flat TV-DVD-VCR Combo (Electronics)
My husband and I are both media maniacs! It's not that we watch an abundance of TV, but when we do, or view DVD's, we are very critical. This product is really a great buy. It is everything we expected, as well as the usual excellence in customer service and delivery from amazon.com.

The only thing that I believe may surprise or annoy some people, is that the user's guide has significant set-up instructions. Since this does not bother us (we actually like it--OK, call us geeks), this was not a problem. But for those consumers who want to buy, click and use--this may be cumbersome/frustrating. Consumers should keep in mind that any home electronic equipment with this many fabulous, built-in features may require significant set-up time to experience its full value.

Thanks, amazon.com!

This review is from: Panasonic PV-DF2700 27-Inch Pure Flat TV-DVD-VCR Combo (Electronics)
As a mildly obsessive, to out right fiendish connoisseur of ...video entertainment I was perplexed 4 years ago when DVD’s came on the scene. I had my trusty vcr that brought me the satisfaction I needed to make it through the day. But the incredible picture and sound produced by the DVD format made me very jealous of the others in my video trading club who could afford the then expensive DVD players. But I wasn't worried, my vcr was fine, and films were still in ample supply in that format. Then about a year ago, the guys in my video trading group seamed to only have DVDs. At the next swap the guys decided they were going strictly DVD. I was devastated. I could not justify the purchase of a DVD player when my vcr was working fine. But I could not afford to lose the incredible selection an film swapping group allots you. So I went home and prayed for help for my predicament. One morning as I got ready for work my vcr just quit playing, right in the middle of my favorite flicks. I checked to make sure, but it was completely dead. I called in sick, went to Circuit City in search of a dream. I went in and explained my situation. They showed me the new vcrs, and the new DVDs, but going for the gold my young sales associate friend showed me his grand daddy model, the Panasonic PV-DF2700. I didn't really need a new TV, but my 21" model was 12 years old, and it was about due for replacement. And that pure flat screen is just unbelievable. The clarity is a thousand times better then my old RCA. The DVD looks and sounds great, and the vcr is top notch for a non SVHS model. The remote control is both attractive and functional, with well marked keys and a nice sense of ergonomics. The DVD format is great, and all my favorite classics are being re-released on DVD. I for one can see no point at which DVD will ever stop. This was the best $... I have ever spent. When I showed up at the next video swap, everyone was in awe that I arrived with 5 brand new DVDs in hand. We had a group hug and they all congratulated me on a great leap into the brave new world of digital video. And when I told them I could record their DVDs while I watched them with just the push of a button, I realized they were the ones who were jealous now. I highly recommend this set to everyone. Thank you for your time.
