The Panasonic PV-HD1000 digital VCR is a four-head unit that is compatible with both D-VHS-formatted digital tapes and standard VHS. The PV-HD1000 even allows you to play tapes recorded in S-VHS mode. With an optional set-top box, it can record a picture with 1,080 active lines of resolution--more than four times the resolution of the VHS format. Once connected via an IEEE 1394 digital interface, you'll be able to record and play back all 18 Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) digital formats, including all variations of HDTV and SDTV.
The multiprogram recording function enables you to record and play back multiple programs simultaneously transmitted on the same bandwidth. This unit features a Universal Light Tower illuminated remote with shuttle control. The Panasonic PV-HD1000 is also equipped with VCR Plus+ with Cable/DSS box control. This feature permits you to program your VCR with the PlusCode numbers that are published in various TV directories throughout the country and record shows with one-touch control.
Other features include VHS hi-fi stereo for true, high-fidelity stereo sound with a dynamic range of more than 90 dB;front audio-video input jacks for easy connection to additional video equipment; and auto clock set with 24-hour backup. Index Search automatically places a signal on the videotape control track at the beginning of each program for quick access and previews each indexed segment for 10 seconds. The Panasonic PV-HD1000's auto head cleaner automatically maintains the video heads to help minimize magnetic particle buildup from older and rental tapes. This VCR is backed by a warranty of a year on parts, 90 days on labor.
