My three small boys wear out pencils pretty quickly doing their homework. I thought that a small electric sharpener would be a time (and wrist) saver for us. The sharpener worked well for the first two or three pencils -- then a lead broke off in the sharpener which prevented other pencils from fully sharpening. The broken-off lead would not come out so I had to dismantle it to remove the lead. After that, it never sharpened well. One can argue that I broke it in the repair attempt -- but it shouldn't have needed the repair! So, you can either say that it is poorly designed to recover from broken leads (which happens for any sharpener) or that it is poorly designed to be repaired. Either way, after less than a dozen pencils, I have a sharpener that won't work.

i think this sharpner works ok...but it just doesn't give me a nice point that you would expect and by the time i do half my pencil is gone :( overall i wouldn't buy it again

Sharpener failed to meet "technical expectations" - it just won't sharpen the pencils! it makes the noise, rotates the pencil, but it's very tricky to get things done with it - faster to use manual sharpener...

It was a hassel to sharpen my pencil with a knife every time this needed to be done and at work I had an electric device which I became dependent on. So --- it was not much of a jump to get one for the home office. I like the design appearance AND the cool colors. It works good also which I quess is the real point of this review.

Happens to match wifes desk decor and works really well. Still on original batteries and no lack of power.

Not only does this pencil sharpener work incredibly fast and well, but it's cute! It actually makes me want to ditch mechanical pencils for the good old #2 yellow pencil. I recommend it for every desk.

Unit worked satisfactorily for a while but then failed to sharpen. The pencil does not engage the blade. The position of the blade is not adjustable and replacement parts appear not to be available. Flashy design but poor engineering.

I had owned a Panasonic rectangular sharpner for some years and when it finally failed, I learned that it was no longer in production. This was one of the "newer models", but it is not a chip off of the old block, or wood pencil, as the case may be. The angle of the end of the pencil it makes is stubby and not much lead is exposed. I do not like the writing results, nor the short lead exposure which frequently needs sharpening. I am on the Amazon site right now looking for a better sharpner and thought I would offer my experience. Save your money.

Purchased for my 8 year old son's desk, and it's perfect for his pencils. He can empty it himself and it does a nice job. It does, however, require a lot of batteries.

Some pencils, it sharpens fine. Others, it constantly breaks the lead. I've only used it to sharpen #2 pencils and have been unable to determine a pattern of why it work well on some, and not on others. Regardless, there have to be better pencil sharpeners out there for a few more dollars.
