5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Book Lovers on the Move!
I bought one Panasonic SL-SX470 for myself several months ago, and it worked so well for me, I bought another to use as well. Working a quiet job on swing shift, I listen to audio books in MP3 format. Listening to books, as opposed to music, you really need a good piece of equipment on which you can rely. 3.0 out of 5 stars Get The 480
Too much money for what it is (I bought mine at a closeout for about 30 bucks). BUT: it appears that the newer Panasonic SL-SX480W Portable CD Player, White is nearly identical for a far better price.

Here are some things I've learned about this player:

I discovered the anti-skip is far superior to others in this price range that I have tried. I rarely sit at work, and the near constant movement doesn't cause the player to skip, nor does it miss a beat while I'm running on the treadmill with the player strapped to me.

If you turn the unit off by pressing the stop button twice, the player will remember where it was. For audio book listeners, that feature is a godsend. It does you no good, though, if the power cuts out, or the battery runs low, and the player turns itself off.

The player cannot handle nested files; it will play the first nested file, and no more from that directory. It will not acknowledge disks with main directories with more than 9 files. It can't read them.

If you want your files to play in a certain order, alphabetical order won't work. You need to tag your files with track numbers first. For example: 112_BrotherOdd_Disk7_Track08.mp3

At first, I also had a problem with the power cutting out. I opened the battery case, and pried the tabs that touch the contacts on the batteries out farther, so that they might hold the batteries more firmly. That did the trick!

I hope this helps you!
