After comparing the 120 with the 295, the first thing I noticed was how clear the sound was. Definitely better for vocals. The sound doesn't get distorted at higher volumes on the 295. Unfortunately I wasn't noticing any difference in the bass so I went back and forth and realized the bass in the 295 was clearer, but not deeper. Not sure if it's distortion in the 120, but you can "feel" the bass more, which makes it sound better to me.
The 295 feels lighter than the 120 and more comfortable. I haven't tried running with them yet, so not sure how well they will stay in the ear. The 120 though stays in pretty well. The shorter cord is an interesting bonus, good for mp3 players above the waste. The extension cord works for anything below, but is a little awkward where they connect since it's a 90 degree angle.
Overall they are a solid ear bud especially for the price, but the 120 are much cheaper and the sound quality is very close. I'd say get these if you need the shorter cord.
UPDATE: They don't fit as snug as the 120, but they are way more comfortable and lighter. The most comfortable headphones I've ever had in fact. Also after having them for over a year they are still working great with no shorts in wires unlike the 120's which tend to only last a year before needing replacements.
Previously I have owned the following.
Coby Platinum Jammerz - Decent sound, strong base (as good as the RP-HJE295), awful quality of materials. After 3-4 months they stopped working.
Skull Candy INK'ed - OK sound, low base, also had a broken earbud after a few months.
ILUV City Lights - The base packs a wallop! Awesome base (best out of all on here), but all the other sounds are muffled. Good if you just want pure base sound. However the quality felt bad. Very cheap and flimsy cords and connections. Immediately returned them.
Pansonic RP-HJE450- Real nice rich sound and decent base. Have had them for a few months and they are still going strong. However I don't like the very long cord for listening to music while walking. So I use them at my work desk now.
Panasonic RP-HJE160 - Decent sound and base (not as good as the RP-HJE295). Have lasted a little over a year. Wouldn't have purchased the RP-HJE295 except the cord is pulling off on the jack. The wires are exposed yet they still work well! Figured if these are Panasonic's low end model then I'm going to upgrade to their higher end buds.
These are replacing my J-Lab tangle-free, virtually bullet-proof headphones which are heavy and thump when you move around but you could probably drive a car over them and they'd still work fine. These Panasonics, compared to the J-Labs, are so so so incredibly comfortable, and they fit in my ear perfectly. The largest size earbuds (it comes with three pairs) is a comfortable fit, blocks out sound. Sound quality is better than most of the headphones I own (some Sony's, Sennheisers, the J-Lab, etc)
Ok, turns out I had quite a bit to say. Anyways, highly recommended.
NOTE.... If you expect to get decent sound and bass response from this or virtually any other in-ear type earphone it is crucial that the tips fit tightly on the nozzle of the earphone and fit your ear canal tightly enough to create a good seal. Leakage at either place will produce poor overall sound and very little bass response. I know most people reading this already know how important fit and seal is so this is not aimed at you. I do feel that this is not emphasized enough. I believe poor fit and / or seal is often the problem when some reviewers mention weak bass and poor sound quality when reviewing earphones that do indeed have good sound and bass response.

Great plugs. not as deep bass as I would expect but good enough, the shape fit well and stays in even while working out better than others.Published 2 months ago by Marc B.
Lasted a whole week before the sound in the left ear started going, and I'm not that rough with them. My last pair cost $5.99 and lasted almost a year. Very disappointed.Published 3 months ago by Joseph
Awesome headphones. I picked these up because of the sound range, and it delivers. A lot of ear buds loose that low frequency range that most bass resides in, these don't. Read morePublished 4 months ago by LovedbyJesus
