The title pretty much speaks for itself. These earbuds are surprisingly good!
I already own the Sennheiser PX 100 Collapsible Headphones (FANTASTIC for on-the-ear headphones, providing excellent dynamic range and superb comfort) and use those for travelling. However, I was using a set of Sony MDR-E828LP Fontopia Earbuds with Winding Case for jogging and working out and they left something to be desired. The sound is good, but the fit (on me) is only so-so and they have a tendency to pop out when I'm running. I started searching for a replacement for the Sony earbuds. I came upon these while searching Amazon. Good reviews, good price, and the being an in-ear style sealed the deal. The package comes with three sizes of pads and a carrying case, which is a nice touch. I found the medium ones that came already attached worked fine for my ears. The build quality seems quite good. First, the sound quality of these is great. I listened to a variety of jazz, classical, rock, pop, etc. and these did a good job of reproducing most of the dynamics and nuances. Second, these are very comfortable for in-ear buds, without feeling intrusive. I've tried the expensive Shure earbuds, which sound excellent, but I found them uncomfortable after a while. These Panasonic earbuds feel good even after extended periods of wear. They do not block outside noise as well as some other models, but personally I don't want my earbuds to completely isolate me from the world. Overall, if you decide to buy these, you'll get great fitting and sounding earbuds at a great value!

I keep trying to find earphones that sound better than these. After all, they were only $30. I bought Sonys, Shure, Creative, and just recently the Ultimate Ears Super.fi 5 Pro ($150), all hoping to get more if I spent more. None of these beat my little Panasonics. They have a rich, strong sound and great isolation. And due to the asymmetrical contoured buds, they are by far the most comfortable and secure earphones I've tried. (and they fit my iPhone) I LOVE these earbuds!

Anyone who is getting poor bass, treble, or mid range must not be using the right ear piece that came with the earbuds, or using a device with poor audio output. Once you find the ear piece that fits perfectly in your ear, the sound is amazing. The full audio range is excellent, especially when listening to 320 kb/s audio from a computer with a high quality sound card. These even sound great for music on my PSP. Listening to 320 kb/s bass test tones will make your head feel like it is vibrating, with no distortion. I would defiantly recommend these to anyone looking for general purpose earbuds.

When I buy In-ear headphones I usually buy the sony ones because they are fairly inexpensive and have decent sound. But somehow I lost the sony ones and I bought the panasonic's because they were cheaper.
Comfort These headphones are amazingly comfortable. I use the smallest earbuds, insert them in my ears and they fit perfectly. After a while they get a tad hot but that is what usualy happens with these type of headphones. I used them while working out and as long as you put these head phones inside your shirt and behind your head they don't get in the way. - 4 1/2 Sound The head phones block outside sound fairly well but don't expect noise-canceling levels. The quality of sound is pretty decent but at higher volumes I notice the degradation in the quality of sound. However in most cases it sounds fine. Bass is a little weak but the sound is fairly clear. I also noticed the shape of the drivers is different from common in-ear headphones. Instead of a 9mm "circle" driver unit, its a 10.3 mm "oval" type driver unit. -4 Durability These headphones seem pretty durable and I have not noticed any reduction in sound quality for the couple of months I owned the headphones. - 5 I highly recommend these headphones if you are looking for inexpensive, easy to wear comfortable, durable head phones. Overall I give it a 4 1/2.

My old Sony MDR-EX71SLA earphones finally quit on me, prompting me to buy something new. I chose the Panasonic RP-HJE300 based on the good customer reviews in Amazon.com, and the very attractive price. I'm very glad I did. First, these are the most comfortable earphones I've ever used. The offset design together with the lightweight (Y-shaped) cord make them so comfortable that I literally can't feel them in there. I like to listen to my IPod as I drift off to sleep, so I keep these earphones in all night. When I wake up, I still can't feel them in my ears. That's comfort! Second, the sound quality is wonderful. I listen mostly to country, bluegrass, blues, oldies, and showtunes. These little Panasonics are a noticeable improvement in sound quality over my old Sony earphones (and they were darn good). Third, the low price is unbelievable. I got them from one of the Amazon.com third-party vendors for under $20 including shipping! I ordered them on-line on Monday, and they arrived on Thursday, with no premium shipping charges. Needless to say, I was thrilled.

After 10 days these have broken in and I'm really impressed. I use them primarily for my commute on the light rail so I don't have to listen to random conversations. While not audiophile quality audio, they sound great for the price. High notes were slightly subdued initially but have come out during break-in. Mids were solid from day one. Bass is a slightly on the weak side but very clear and only will be an issue for bass-heavy music (a very small portion of what I listen to). Comfort is simply the best I've found. Isolation is moderate but does what I want; that is I can still hear the stop anouncements on the train if I don't turn the music up loud. Overall a solid in-ear for commutes where you want good sound but you don't want and can't appreciate top end sound. Unless you are really into bass, I don't think you'll find a better value at the price.
Based on using a Sansa fuze with most music 256 kbs mp3's.

I was a little skeptical of these headphones before ordering based on the reviews. However, it didn't take long for me to completely fall in love with them. I tend to feel self-conscious of how loud my music is when I am in public places- I don't want the person sitting next to me on the airplane to have to hear the dull whining of a song escaping from the confines of my ear canal. With these headphones this is not a problem. They manage to keep the music in and the rest of the world out.
There is one major flaw: The headphones come with three pairs of bud sizes (just large, medium and small) so that you can adjust them to your particular ears. Sadly, though, the little buds would fall off and get lost! I probably lost three or four and ended up even buying a second pair of headphones. I figured that they would someday need to be replaced anyway, so I might as well. Next time I am just going to super glue the little buggers on! Aside from this flaw, they are a great choice.

Not that great. Spend the extra $10 for the V-MODA,
This review is from: Panasonic RP-HJE300 Portable Earbud Headphones with Carrying Pouch (Black) (Electronics)
Sound quality: 4. Better than what they'd give you on an airline, not as good as the V-MODA Bass Freq Earbuds. Under powered bass.
Isolation: 6. Rubber tips. Ambient sounds still got in, but with iPod on, it did an OK job. CX-300 is is better; V-MODA is best. Fit: 8. Better than the V-MODA Bass Freq Earbuds & Siennheiser CX-300. They did stay put. Quality feel: 4. They are very much plastic, despite a metal look. General comments: Spend the extra $10 and get the V-MODA Bass Freq Earbuds. They really are better. If you want to go all out, I hear the Ultimate Ears metro.fi 2 are the ones to get.

This is my second pair of this earbuds, first pair one of the channels went off. I bought a pair of "JBL Reference" (maybe reference for awful sound) for a twice of the price of this one, maybe thinking I would be higher quality.
These earbuds have a nice balanced sound frequencies, not too much into the mid freq like the JBL. Pretty comfortable, it won't drop when running. I would recommend these earbuds to friend.

I don't know how long these things are supposed to hold up, but mine died after about a year and a half. Until then they were fine -- very comfortable, decent sound quality, good price. When I was out on a jog oneday, they suddenly started to crap out -- sound became crackly and was fading in and out. I'd expected them to last longer -- especially since I've always had good experiences with Panasonic products. I wouldn't buy this particular model again.
