The overall build quality is also very good and the fit is perfect.

While I would not say that these are the best headphones of all time, I still love them because the offer much more range than other headphones.

I had these for about a year before the cord developed a short just from regular use and storage in the included box.

I couldn't ask for a better pair of ear-buds at this price! I'd read in another review that they have a great range of sound so I bought a pair. Great thing is they have the best sound I've heard yet out of a pair of ear-buds. I've had the Philips Sounds canceling ear-buds which are way to bulky and I've had (still do) the Sony MDR-EX51LP's.The Sony ear-buds would lose quality after about 2 weeks of constant listening and then the sound becomes muffled. And with-in a year I've gone through 3 pair. These Panasonic ear-buds are like clean air! I would recommend them to anyone.

I bought these earbuds to replace my Sony earbuds which I liked but the wiring was so soft I was having to replace them every 4-6mos (I was working on my third pair). I use them primarily for mtn biking and road riding. The panasonic earbuds fit great, have excellent flexibility and are way more durable than the Sonys. The wire casing is harder than the Sonys and can endure much more punishment. The sound quality is noticibly better than the Sonys and they stay in your ear during very strenuous workouts. I'm so happy with these I only wish I would have found them earlier so I didn't waste my money on the Sony replacements.

I've collected quite a few nice headphones, and I enjoy trying new products, and with headphones, it's interesting to buy and try other brands/models, since you can get pretty good sound without spending a lot.

So far, I've heard earbud and IEM (In Ear Monitor) models from high end brands such as Etymotic Research, Shure, Ultimate Ears, and others. For more casual use, I've been looking for good earbuds (easier to use than a pure IEM).

After seeing pictures of this earbud from Panasonic, and reading the rave reviews, I decided to give these a try since they are a pretty good deal offered here on Amazon at around $62+

The presentation of these headphones is nice, they feel solid and are funky looking. They come with a metal case which looks like a card case, and it comes with a short cable (just long enough to place your MP3 player in your pocket) but includes with cable extension so you can plug them into your desktop stereo/computer

The metal case looks impressive, but is not that useful as it's thin and takes too much work to put the headphones into it. You have to snap the two headphones together, and insert them into the fitted foam, and they wind up the cable and insert them into the netted section. All too fussy to do on a day to day basis.

As for the sound, I just could not get these to fit into my ear. I tried all three rubber tip sizes. The sound was harsh, with too much treble and a very weak bass. If I really really pushed hard on them to force a tight seal, the sound improved a lot but they my ears started hurting. The bass was very full sounding, maybe a bit underdamped even, but the treble was still a bit too much, a bit too brash sounding.

Just received these and the sound quality is superb. Excellent bass and clarity. The overall build quality is also very good and the fit is perfect. Nice and light too. It also come with a very nice quality aluminum case. These headphones are worth every penny. Not sure why Panasonic hasn't promoted these more. They did a fine job.

UPDATE

It's been two years since I've purchased these and I love them but they just developed a short in the left ear piece and I'm getting no sound from it. I'm contemplating if I should buy these again. Other than developing a short, they are perfect for me.

I had these for about a year before the cord developed a short just from regular use and storage in the included box. They had good sound and were comfortable after I got used to them, but start to hurt after long periods of use. Wouldn't buy again... They've turned me off to the small $50+ in-ear headphones for fear they'll break too easily.

Panasonic RP-HJE70 High Performance Earbud Headphones with Hard Carrying Case
I was expecting this set of in-earphones with anticipation, but, I was very disappointed at first use, I tried all three ear pieces,S, M and L, and the sound seem distant and hollow, highs where present, too much I would say, lows were non existent, I felt like few other reviewers, what a mistake it was to purchase this set of earphones, I was very upset, I felt like throwing them against the wall, that's how upset I was.

Extremely happy now, I found out how to insert the earphones properly and the sound is AMAZING! highs are crisp, mids are full and lows are deep, not overpowering on most music, except Hip Hop, headphones get distorted a high volume levels with this kind of music, they can get loud but the sound is not clean, I used them with my iPod and I can't go past 3/4 of the volume, if I try, my ears start to hurt, the sound is clean with the exception already noted.

When inserting the earphones into your ear canal, go easy, you do not have to force them in, they are extremely comfortable, if your ears hurt, you are definitely forcing them in, swing the mechanism down, and you will hear great music, you will be very please, like I am.
