Best earphones for real-world day to day use,

These are getting hard to find, so I thought I'd post this review to solicit some alternative phones as good and cheap. After using many different makes, some much more expensive, I've found these to be the best sounding for speech, tolerable for music and a great price point at about $5. I frequently use these on weekends while doing yard work as well as nearly everyday. They last sometimes as long as 4 months when the wires start getting stiff and that signals that a channel is about to go intermittent or non-functional. Also, if I snag them and break a wire, replacement cost is OK. Anyone else have good experience with another brand that does NOT have that " mid-range honk?
