4.0 out of 5 stars Nice for the price, I like it
This is my 5th voice recorder. I started with a cheap pen, then a poorly designed olympus, then I had 2 sony units that had a great design but were buggy and dropped messages. This Panasonic is a very nice unit especially for the price. The voice quality is excellent, much better than the sony I had. The buttons could be placed better but they are very usable and I can...

2.0 out of 5 stars Panasonic 160
I have owned this product for a couple of years now. Bought it directly from Panasonic. Reproduces very good. I found it very annoying that it depletes batteries very quickly, in a couple of weeks even when disconnected. Also construction is very poor and the case lost the printed indications and color very quickly; looked beaten up in less than six months.

This is my 5th voice recorder. I started with a cheap pen, then a poorly designed olympus, then I had 2 sony units that had a great design but were buggy and dropped messages. This Panasonic is a very nice unit especially for the price. The voice quality is excellent, much better than the sony I had. The buttons could be placed better but they are very usable and I can find the record button without having to look at the unit which is important when making notes while driving. The play button should be on the side, it is too easy to accidentally press when it is in a pocket on the front. Also the sony erase button would play the message repeatedly until you pressed erase again to delete it. This was a great feature for going through notes. The Panasonic lets you press and hold then press to confirm which is OK, better than the olympus that took ten button presses to erase every recording.
Overall I like this Panasonic, especially for the price. I think I will be using it for a long time to come.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for personal use..., February 15, 2006

This was my frist digital recorder that I bought and I was pretty pleased. The batteries last for quite a while. The only thing I don't like is that on a manual tape recorder, you can erase part of the recording. On this one, it automatically makes a new folder everytime you record a new piece and you can't delete just part of it. But other than that, it works great.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love it, December 28, 2006

Altho discontinued, I just picked this unit up for under $25 brand new, and what a great value. It is designed very nicely; easy to operate, has excellent sound clarity in hq, and was very easy to master in no time. It is small and light, and will be perfect as I think of things I have to do while meandering thru my home or when driving. For the money, I really don't think you can go wrong (if you can find one).

Have been using this recorder for almost three years now...almost daily..and it is still kickin' butt..I especially like the five folders so I can sort out my recordings depending on content...batteries last about 4-6 months...it is very compact and easy to use...I use this recorder for my bike journal when traveling...takes a lickin' and keeps on kickin' !!!...good little recorder...plenty of memory...JM

I used this to voice record my evil baby sitter (whom I later on fired) while my wife and I were at work and heard EVERYTHING. There are 3 levels of recording. The lowest quality last 8 hours while the highest quality last 2 hours. It has 4 folders organization. My only gripe is that I cannot selectively delete the middle of a clip. The voice activation thing works great too.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Panasonic RR-QR160 IC Recorder (Office Product)
First I bought a Panasonic, I think, that was years ago, and I sadly lost it. Then I bought a Pearlcorder, I think it was an Olympus. That one quit working on me. Then I bought this one. It worked great. But I kept it clipped most of the time to my pocket. Many times little crumbs would get under the screen, so I carefully disabled it to get to the screen and clean it, but a little more than a month ago when I did that, I found the only two wires in it torn. It is sitting in my room right now with the battery cover off and the screws in it. I suggest you thinking a little more than I did when I first got to Fred Meyer. If I EVER buy another one, it will NOT have an LCD screen. It will be about 20 to 25 dollars, and have a small tape holder. That tape recorder in my room probably will never work again. It worked great, though. Just get some case for it, or protection device - whatever. But NEVER keep it clipped inside your pocket with the belt clip! Pocket crumbs will probably get under it; it also gets a few scraches on the LCD. The crumbs will drive you crazy until you have to clean it! Don't get me wrong - it's a wonderful tape recorder, I'm just really messed up over the situation. It has so many features I'd rather not discuss them all like I did with the GMRS-1535 weather radio or the RM806 travel clock! It has a menu and the folder/file features which sure are nice, but anyway, I better get started with my Old Yeller book report!
