Panasonic's RX-ES25 digital-tuner CD radio cassette boombox features the two-tiered BTL Power Blaster amplifier to drive the speakers. The result is rich bass and clear middle and high tones, even at low volumes. The full-range speakers are angled upward for diffused 3-D sound. Spaciousness is further enhanced by Sound Virtualizer circuitry, which creates a sound field with improved stereo imaging and depth. Front-facing bass reflex ports aim low frequencies toward you, while the speakers' free-edge design results in increased, clean bass response. Other sound-enhancing features include an acoustic separator cabinet, which places the main speakers in separate compartments to help reduce distortion, and four preset equalizer modes (XBS, soft, clear, vocal) for different personal tastes. The XBS (Extra Bass System) mode ensures deep, low frequencies without affecting the high end.

The AM/FM digital tuner provides auto tuning, auto scanning, and memory for up to 24 stations. It also ensures virtually drift-free reception. The Panasonic RX-ES25 has a motorized front-loading CD player that uses a MASH 1-bit digital-to-analog converter to assure faithful CD sound. Playback options include 24-track random-access programming, random play and repeat play (track or disc). The cassette player uses Tape Program Search to quickly find desired tracks and can automatically set tape bias for normal and metal tapes. CD recording is made easy with synchro start, which begins to play the CD automatically when the cassette's record button is pressed.

Other features include a clock, play/record/sleep timers, full function remote control, soft tape eject, a backlit blue LCD screen, jog dial, and a stylish silver exterior. The Panasonic RX-ES25 includes an AC adapter.

It will also run on eight D batteries--plus four AA cells for the clock--for portable use.

The Panasonic PowerBlaster RX-ES25 is a great boombox. It plays very loud and does not distort the music even at full volume like many boomboxes can. The Sound Virtulizer gives the music 3D sound, and the preset equalizer settings even add more character to music. The Equalizer has 4 settinngs. XBS (adds punch to rock), Clear (clarifies higher sounds), Soft (for background music), and Vocal (adds gloss to vocals). The CD player is a slide out drawer type as opposed to the top loading found on most boomboxes. The CD Player has all the features (Random, Repeat, 36 Track Program).The tape player sounds great too. The tape player is full logic controls. What's cool about the tape deck is has a motorized ejecting system at the touch of a buttton. The cassette has different modes for recording. The only thing I wish it the cassette deck had is auto reverse. The Radio is all digital and gets many stations with its long antenna. You can preset 12AM and 12FM Stations and scroll through them buy using the Jog-Dial. The unit comes with a remote control that controls every funtion including cassette. If you want to use batteries the unit takes 8D for the main power, 4AA for the memory back-up (Clock, CD player and preset stations ect.). The manual says the memory batteries will last about a year. You also need 2AA batteries for the remote. I bought the 8D rechargeable alkaline batteries. I may have to exhange my unit because the jog-dial seems to stick in certian spots I am going to call Panasonic to see if this is normal. If you want a boombox that goes really loud and has great sound quality this could be the one for you.

Panasonic does it again. I experimented with many brands, but it seems that I can always count on Panasonic to give me some of the best features, sound, and quality for a reasonable price. The look and feel of the display and controls seemed as if they belonged on a set that cost ... more. One exception - no batteries included with the remote control?! Sound is very good, operation is smart, and a lot of features for the price. For a boombox, I was also amazed at how loud I could go before distortion. Again, for the price its hard to beat. It's not the quality of a mini-component system but the price isn't as high either. This will accompany my 1982 Panasonic boombox that still sounds & works great, but does not have a CD player.

This is an awesome machine. I have owned several "boom boxes" but this by far is the best. Easy to use, pleasing to the eye, and great sound both low and high end. Read the review by phurlene for more...everything he said is totally true. My jog dial works fine by the way...
