The description for this recharger and 2 battery set "Guarantees" that it has the chip required to report battery status on the Lumix DMC-LX7 camera. In fact the battery package received clearly states that it will NOT report the battery status. When I raised this to the vendor they didn't even try to argue the fact and simply offered me $5.00 or I could return the package. So much for their 100% guarantee. This is a basic bait and switch tactic and I expect much more from Amazon and it's partners.
Received the package but was initially disappointed as the battery packing has a sticker that states, "IMPORTANT: Camera will not display power levels while using this battery". It was supposed to be with INFO-CHIP. Anyway, it was flat and I put it into the charger for charging. Charging completed in slightly less than 2 hours. Put the battery into my LX-7 - and it does displays a 3-level (fully charged) battery icon. [Hopefully, it will not still display a 3-level when the battery is flat. If it does, will come back to update this info.] The car-charger option is definitely an useful option.
I ordered this with my LX7 as I felt that back up batteries were needed with my LX5. Much to my disappointment, only 1 battery came with the package instead of 2. After comparing with the 1250 mAh that came with the camera, this 1700 mAh replacement lasted for approx 60 more shots ( depending on flash usage, zoom, video, etc ). I'm happy with this battery and seemingly faster charger (haven't mixed batteries and chargers).
