5.0 out of 5 stars Great li'l stereo
Check out the features on this baby— it's jam packed and they all work flawlessly. All the latest stuff, including High Mat and DVD Audio. It won't rattle the walls (it's a mini-stereo after all), but the sound is plenty big enough for a dorm or living room. 1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't Exist
I never received this product and therefore have nothing to say about it. Some sort of inventory mix-up and now the product seems to be unavailable.

This review is from: Panasonic SC-PM91D Micro System with Built-in Five-disc DVD/CD Changer (Electronics)
Check out the features on this baby— it's jam packed and they all work flawlessly. All the latest stuff, including High Mat and DVD Audio. It won't rattle the walls (it's a mini-stereo after all), but the sound is plenty big enough for a dorm or living room. And although its wattage is slightly below some of the more expensive all-plastic boomboxes, its overall fidelity and spectral reproduction is much better. This is about the least expensive system you can get with true 3-way bass reflex in real wood cabinets.

I use it as a replacement for computer speakers (the whole system is magnetically shielded). Hitched up to a good soundcard, the possibilities are many. Get those old cassette tapes into the computer by running a 1/8" stereo line from the headphone output to the soundcard line-in (use a splitter so you can monitor with headphones). Send all computer audio to the receiver using a Y-Adapter to the RCA AUX inputs. Grab AM or FM broadcasts and record right to hard disk. Run the video cable to your TV and you have an instant home theater setup with excellent sound. No need for a separate DVD player. Dedicated output for a separate subwoofer if you insist on rattling the walls. I believe the optical outputs can be used to build a true surround system. Hook your Ipod or similar device to the AUX inputs and rock out without earbuds. All with the best quality available for under $250. JVC makes a mini-stereo with about the same capabilities and quality— for about $100 more.

This system replaces the SC-PM39D, which I bought for my daughter a few weeks ago. She loves it. This has the same quality components (you can read about a dozen glowing reviews of the 39D on Amazon), and Panasonic corrected the only real flaw: the 39D relies on the remote control as the only way to access many functions— on the 91D almost everything can be done from the front panel as well.

If you're looking for every format under the sun and near-rack-system-sound, go for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars sounds clear to me, November 27, 2005
This review is from: Panasonic SC-PM91D Micro System with Built-in Five-disc DVD/CD Changer (Electronics)
I purchased this item cause I didn't want the bulk of the big stereo system or even the home theather system. I was very please to find this because of the great sound and you can place multiple cd's. Also, my wife and I started using it as a mini home theater system and it sounds great.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Sound, October 13, 2010

This is a good system for the money. It is compact and fits anywhere. It has very good sound. I mostly listen to CD's but the radio is OK if you can get reception in your house. The only complaint is the controls are a bit complicated and take practice to use.

3.0 out of 5 stars dvd is not as great as sound, July 16, 2005
This review is from: Panasonic SC-PM91D Micro System with Built-in Five-disc DVD/CD Changer (Electronics)
I agree with almost all the reviews about PM91D or 39D. They all mention about the sound quality. On the other hand DVD quality is not as gerat as sound. Especially if you are going to play VCD or JPEG files you might get dissapointed a little.
