You've just bought your new widescreen TV. Part of the HDTV experience is 5.1 channel surround sound. If you're missing that, you're not getting the complete HDTV experience. The Panasonic SC-PT650 is a quick, simple, and affordable solution. It is a great, easy-to-use home-theater system that features a 5-DVD changer with 1080p up-conversion, EZ-Sync HDAVI control with HDMI connection, and an included Panasonic universal dock for iPod playback and recharging. It is wireless rear-audio ready with an optional SH-FX65 Wireless Kit, and is expandable to multi-room wireless audio with the optional SH-FX85 Wireless Kit. The system comes with 5 wired speakers and 1 wired subwoofer. You can enhance your home theater system with the incredible combination of Panasonic sound technology and 1000 watts of power. Super Surround puts you in the action with lifelike sound from every angle, and a Four-Step Subwoofer Level Control puts you in command with rich sound effects you can hear and feel. The 5 satellite speakers are wall mountable, and the subwoofer has a 6.5-inch driver with a bass-reflex port for that authentic theater-at-home feel.

My husband and I are so pleased with this purchase. For the cost.. it has everything we were looking for and more. The 5-disc DVD player allows us to have both DVDs and Cds in the player ready for watching/listening. I love the fact that I can still listen to FM radio as well as upgrade to XM radio in the future.

My husband loves the fact that he can plug his iPod into the dock, charge it, and play music from it. That was a nice added feature.

The set-up took no time at all. Not complicated.
We are very happy with this puchase & would recommend it to anyone.

First, what I like about this system, which I've had for about two weeks now: the audio quality, on TV, DVDs, and FM radio, is good for such a small, inexpensive system; and the iPod dock is a nice touch.

What doesn't impress me so far is the DVD upconversion. I've tried every possible output setting on several DVDs, and they all come out looking jagged and pixelated on my 61" Samsung DLP. I finally switched back to component cables, and they look better.

So this probably isn't the best choice if you'll be watching a lot of DVDs on a large HDTV. On the other hand, if you just want better sound from your TV shows, or have a smaller set and won't notice the upconversion problems, this is a good buy for the price.

This is a great sounding system for the price and space. I don't have an extremely large living room so filling up the room with sound isn't hard to achieve; but I've always appreciated great sound. This system provides that with a small footprint. The satellite speakers sound just as good as some of the larger Panasonic speakers on other in-box systems. The subwoofer sounds particularly good for its small size. My biggest complaint is that you can not change out the factory installed 20 gauge speaker wire connected to the speakers themselves. I've not had any issues upconverting DVDs on my 32" 720p LCD tv. The 5 disc DVD player has worked out well for my family and is very easy to use. All in all, great system, just wish they hadn't hardwired such small cables to the speakers.

I picked up the 650 for $80 bucks ~ sick huh? :D
5.1 processing! You hear the monster creeping up behind you!!
1000 watts!! It'll blow you away!!

Put on some house music ~ turn it up ~ dance in the streets!
Quality is off the hook!
Who cares about ipods? I picked up an adapter for <$10 and plug our laptops in!! 1000 watts of youtube and last.fm!!

Would I have liked wireless rears? Yeah sure, but thats a $300 system!

This is not a bad theater system if space is limited but why did Panasonic leave out seperate bass and treble controls (via remote or on unit)? The only settings I can find are pre-sets for movie, music or flat. The sound is terrible when watching local HD channels or FM. DVD's and cd's are better (yes better source) but was unhappy once I discovered the lack of features. The wireless rear speakers are nice but you still end up running the wiring from the rear speakers to the wireless module. Make the rear speakers larger and put a module in each one!
