Was in the market for a home theatre system and after looking at several different brands, I settled on the Panasonic SC-PT770 system. Went with the Panasonic since I have a 56" Panasonic tv. This was very easy to set up and works great in the small area that I have it in. The sound quality is great! The sub hit's with a very nice deep thump! I love the IPod connection with the one screen display. Works very well. The wireless rear speakers work great as well. I did not have any issues or interference with my wireless network like some other folks have mentioned in their reveiw. Of course, I do agree that there was not enough speaker wire for the rear speakers. I used the sound setup mic and it seemed to dial in the speakers like it was supposed to. Thus far, I am very pleased with this system and would highly recommend it!!!

Pros: Attractive design, easy set up, good sound quality (for the most part).

Cons: Unintuitive setup and menus, intermittent cut out from the rear wireless speakers, poor picture quality from the DVD player. Also, I have yet to be able to watch a movie on the DVD player without the picture freezing for a split second every two to three seconds. It's very distracting and disappointing after spending this amount on a new DLP television and home theater system.

I bought this system a couple of weeks ago for use in my 800 sq. foot apartment. Bottom line--it rocks!

At first, I was mightily peeved that it only had one HDMI port. I thought FOR SURE it had two of 'em. Well, I just assumed that it would, as nowadays, all you need to do to hook up a kickass surround sound system is to run an HDMI cord from the Cable box to the home theater system, and then one more from there to the TV.

Nope, Panasonic went cheap and added a degree of difficulty.

So, in order to use this system to it's maximum, I ran a fiber-optic audio cable from the Cable TV box into the Panasonic unit, and an HDMI cable from the Cable TV box to the TV (I've got a 40" Sharp Aquos TV). Then I ran an HDMI cable from the Panasonic unit to the TV, also. Works like a charm! And the sound is really amazing. I am blown away by how good it is (maybe because I went without for almost a year!). But the subwoofer really gets the job done, and the other speakers have excellent, crisp sound.

My only gripe, besides only having one HDMI port, is that the rear 'wireless' speaker wires (the ones that go to the wireless receiver) are only 10 feet long--12 feet would've been much better. I can't put the wireless receiver unit between the two speakers, due to the configuration of my living room and furniture, so the proprietary speaker wires kind of hang limp and look ghetto-ish behind my couch.

Otherwise, for the price, it's an unbeatable system. It would get five stars if it had another HDMI port and the rear surround wires were a bit longer.

I ordered this system from Buydig.com last week because it was less expensive than anywhere else on the web. I was scheduled to receive this item within 3-6 business days, but I received it in less than 2 days from the time I ordered it! I'm not very tech savvy, so it took me like an hour to figure everything out. I have a medium sized living room, and the system came equipped with more than enough wire. The sound quality is WONDERFUL, and the sub is FAR BEYOND IMPRESSIVE!! It sounds like I am really sitting in a movie theater, even when the sub is adjusted to level 1. My neighbor came over and asked me to turn it down; he said that he couldn't hear anything, but that he could feel the vibrations of the sub (which was ONLY set to level 1 at the time)...that should speak for itself!! I love the 5 disc DVD/CD changer; the picture quality is also MAGNIFICENT! It also comes equipped with an AM/FM radio, but I have yet to find the time to set it up. This Panasonic is at the TOP OF ITS GAME. I have ABSOLUTELY NO cons at this particular time. If you're looking for a QUALITY, moderately priced home theater system, then this is most definitely the way to go. You will NOT be disappointed; your neighbors will hate you, but I think it's WELL WORTH IT!

I'm a german and i live in united states around 1 and a half year. Sorry my english is still not perfect. As we removed here we bought a Panasonic home theater. Because we had the same already in Germany. It was very beautiful for around 4 Months, then the DVD/CD-Player goes down. Unfortunately we don't buy a extra warranty. OK, it was our owe. In Germany we say : learning by doing. We went to best buy and bought another one. It works very good until today. This morning i bought 2 new CD and want to play it at home. I putted them in the CD-Player and the same with the first device: it doesn't play. Loud voices like a train, no function with the select-buttom, just the radio has done. Afternoon, we gave it back in best buy for the next one. Back at home connect the device and the same problems with the CD-Player. 3 Devices 3time the same problems!? It comes when the companies let make all thinks in China. Cheap, cheaper,
bull....Never Panasonic. I`m very dissapointed from the cheap plastic gears.it's just enough for the trash

The Panasonic SC-PT770 is an excellent first HTIB system or for those who are on a budget. Set up was easy - took about 30-45 min to complete, i.e. ready to watch TV. Just make sure you have the necessary wires - HDMI cable(s) and an optic cable. As suggested in another review, I used 2 HDMI cables (ATT box to TV; PT770 to TV) and an optic cable (PT770 to ATT box). Speaker wire which is of high gauge (very narrow) is provided and is color coded for idiot-proof connections. You will need a screwdriver to assemble the 2 front (tall) speakers. The rear speakers connect to the wireless tranceiver.

Here are my impressions of the system which is connected to a 46" Panasonic Viera TV:

Cons:
-The midrange and trebles seem lacking, but I am not surprised given the size of the speakers and the cost. Thus,
I would not use this system as a primary stereo.
-The rear speakers lacked "punch", but I increased the output which helped some.
-Only 1 HDMI port.
-You are limited by the amount of speaker wire provided. I think this is okay since it's a system best suited for
a smaller room. If you need more wire, then you ought to consider getting a larger system.
-Few function controls on the main unit. I understand Panasonic is after a clean look, however, if you lose or
damage the remote you will be limited as to what you can do.
-Opening/closing the 5 disc player seemed cheap (quick and loud).
-Overall, "feel" of the equipment - cheap - lots of lightweight plastic. I have no problem with this as I knew
what I was getting for the $300.

Pros:
-Very easy set up. I didn't have to refer to the manual other than to understand the functions of the buttons on
the remote.
-Worked the first time I started it...always a good sign.
-No hums, smells, or freezes as noted by other reviewers. In addition, there were no interferences on my wireless
Internet connection or phone.
-The passive subwoofer. As noted by other reviewers, the Panasonic subwoofer puts out a nice low end sound which
can be felt.
-The overall surround sound was impressive given its size. I played Transformers II and the sound effects were
great. The doppler effect was quite apparent.
-Picture quality of the DVD player is very good.
-Overall look is clean and functional.

Overall, I am very pleased with the purchase. It sounds and looks good plus the price at Amazon.com is the best. It can be found cheaper at Dell, but tack on the shipping and tax and it is more expensive. I might add that you should consider buying a warranty (I bought one from Square Trade) since this is a new model (and it features a tranceiver) and with daily use it may experience some kind of problem down the road.

I purchased this HTiB on Tuesday, November 17th. I signed up for Amazon Prime and paid the $3.99 for one day shipping. UPS delivered the box to me on Wednesday, November 18th in the morning. It was well packaged and easy to set up. We live in an apartment and this unit more than meets our needs. I had one question and called Panasonic support and they helped me immediately. The wireless speakers work well. The subwoofer is awesome. The only neg. is the speaker wire is kind of cheap.

My husband and I received this system as a Christmas gift in Dec '09. We had done a lot of research, knowing we wanted a box home theather system, and that we needed wireless due to the setup of our living room. This system seemed about perfect.

First, the good.
-The sound, when there are no issues, is quite good. The speakers seems to have decent sound.
-The wireless concept is really quite nice. The back speakers are small enough to make them easily mountable, and the front towers have a nice sleek look.
-The smart setup is easy to use and quick to setup.
-DVD picture is quite nice.


Now, the not so good.
-The base is almost too heavy, even on the lowest setting.
-I'm disappointed with the controls on the front of the system. It is difficult to figure out how to change the discs - It doesn't seem like I shoud have to read the owner's manual to figure that out.
-The smart setup, while easy enough, does not make the rear speakers loud enough - they are barely discernable over the volume of the front speakers.
-We have an issue where the sound cuts out on the wireless back speakers whenever you walk near the wireless transmitter. I am following up with Panasonic to see if they can resolve this issue, but this has been happening since we opened the box, and all they can do over the phone is ask is the speakers are properly connected and then reset the settings to the manufacturer settings.
-Setting the speaker volume individually is challenging as the menu systems are not very intuitive.
-More inputs to the system would have been nice (there is only one optical in).

I was a little bummed that this system was so disappointing, considering I did a lot of research before deciding on this one. I also feel that the customer service from Panasonic was a little lacking. If I had a choice, I probably wouldn't purchase this system again.

Relative to the price, sound and picture quality reasonable. However, after 3 months, unit would not power on. Closer trouble shooting indicated that it did power on, but only momentarily - the internal fan starts up, but almost immediately unit shuts down. Called Panasonic support - told me to take it to the nearest repair center, about 80 miles away! Totally unsatisfactory. And... this unit was a replacement for a previous Panasonic HT system which failed after less than 18 months, also with a power problem. I had an extended warranty on the original unit, so got the SC-PT770 as a replacement. This is the last Panasonic product I will ever purchase - I have a Sony HT in another room that has played flawlessly for many years.

Come in 2 sets. 1set with wires for tv, 2nd set with wire for back sound. Great sound but not in the true since of totally wireless highly disappointed me.
