This is a durable portable CD player designed for jogging, walking, and other strenuous activities. Features include bass boost, programming of up to 24 tracks, a dual-lock system for the disc lid, and a built-in battery recharger. The SLSW870 is also water and heat resistant so your CDs and the system are protected. It sports a "hold" feature that prevents the user from unintentionally turning the unit on and draining the batteries or accidentally hitting "stop" in the middle of a track.

The included headphones have a special built-in amplifier in the main unit that picks up and boosts the bass signal at around the 50 Hz range. They are worn around the neck, and the VMSS (Virtual Motion Sound System) transforms bass signals into vibrations. This allows you to actually feel the vibration of the bass signals. The remote control is built into the headphones for easy access while on the go.

Since the SLSW870 was designed for rugged activity, the most important feature is the antiskip function. It stores up to 40 seconds of data in its memory to fill in the gaps caused by bumps and vibrations. The SLSW870 comes with a handgrip so you can hold the player while jogging. The SLSW870 includes repeat of one or all tracks, skip/search, memory/recall keys, and 24-track random access programming.

I am a rough guy. I go back packing rock climbing sailing and do almost any extreme activity. I take this cd player every where that I go and it hasn't missed a beat. I have destroyed five cd players before I got this one and in 6 months I haven't had to buy a new one. The head phones are also really cool, the remote is built in and can be easily used. The price is well worth the quality of the machine. If you need a good solid cd player this one is the way to go.

This is one of the best cd players that I have ever used. It will not skip when jogging nor will the batteries fall out because they are mounted on the inside. The headphones have a great sound will excellent bass. The case is made of metal for the most part which brings up the weight but helps a lot when it is droped. The only downsides to this player are that the clips for holding it shut are plastic and not very durrable, and after awile the headphones start to hurt the ears.

I've had this discman for two years, maybe a little more, and it is incredibly durable. I listen to it constantly - when I'm exercising, walking to school, sleeping, doing homework, etc. and it has always performed without fail. I've dropped it numerous, numerous times, even on the cement, and no damage has been done. I've worn it in heavy rain, dropped it in the water, and it still works.
If you are looking for a quality discman, this is definatley the best choice out there.
