5.0 out of 5 stars You have to buy it, to believe it!
WOW! I love this CD Player. Not only is it the coolest looking CD player in the market (I love the red and black color, and its so compact!), it has the best sound system you can imagine.

Truly, this little, compact, tight CD player is the best. I am an avid jogger/dancer, and my one and only problem was the constant skipping, and halting of any other CD player I had...

1.0 out of 5 stars I made the mistake of buying this...
I bought this when it first came out and was extremely satisfied with it for the first six months. The last five months were terrible. My player would skip for no reason and I figured it was due to my cd's. These last two months (and I'm still under warranty) my player's antiskip does not work at all and it can not play past the first half of my cd. The really sad...

Truly, this little, compact, tight CD player is the best. I am an avid jogger/dancer, and my one and only problem was the constant skipping, and halting of any other CD player I had. Well, I have kissed that problem goodbye. I jump, I shake, I just move everything you can imagine, and this awesome CD player does not miss a single beat!

I was soo amazed. Believe me, I had a Sony sports walkman, and this Panasonic SLSW880K rocks compared to it. The remote control feature on the headphones is pretty nifty. The VMSS sound shaker is mind boggling in itself. What else can I say except, if you really want an OUT there sound enhancing and body bumping CD Player, then this is the one for YOU!

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely Well Built With Razor Sound Quality, October 8, 2000

I had been wanting one of these for like over a year. I finally bought one when they came out with the new headphones. They are soooo awesome. I dunno what that guy was talking about these things not being loud enough, someone's probably going deaf :). This player is one of the best I've ever used. You can pretty much drop it and it won't skip a beat. This has got to be one of the best, its got monster sound, AND it is inredibly stylish. I have the red and black one, they also have a blue and silver the SL-SW880 . The vibrating thing on the back of the headphones is really cool. It's like a brand new experience. Nobody has these yet, and you'll be turning heads. So buy it, if ya got the cash.

This is a wonderful CD player I can take it anywhere. It has good bass so I can here it clearly and the head phones block out any other noises I don't want to hear. It never goes on and off when it has full power because I tap the cover. It is also so easy to figure out. It's the best CD player I've ever had!

4.0 out of 5 stars Music Please, April 2, 2001

There's not too much to comment on, so I will keep this short and sweet. I gave it 4 stars because I thought the headphones were very ackward and uncomfortable, otherwise, i think this is a great walkman. 2 Batteries last for 24 hours in this little cool looking machine, and the sound is really good. I recommend purchasing it, but just make sure you alread have headphone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definately worth it's price..., May 4, 2001

Well, I've been searching for a new CD player for a while, since the one I had was the Sony Discman from 3 years ago. I'm a high school student and I *LOVE* music and being in style, so when I decided to get a new CD player, I was willing to pay a lot of money to get a high quality, stylish CD player that can handle the harsh high school environment (if you went, or go to high school, you'll know what I mean). Well, the first thing that caught my eye was the headphones. I liked the idea of having a mini subwoofer on the back of my neck because I listen to fast music with lots of bass. I also loved how the CD player looked like. For about a month, I just went from site to site looking at it's reviews and searching for a good price for the CD player. Anyways, there's a red and black one with silver accents (the one I got) and a blue and silver one. Some reviews said this product sucked and max volume was too low, and some said the headphones didn't do much and were uncomfortable, and some said the CD player didn't work right or something. Well in my opinion, this CD player is just fine. Actually, it's AWESOME!! At first when I got the product, I was disappointed, but then I realized I didn't plug in the headphones all the way. When i finally had control of the product, IT BLEW ME AWAY!!! The vibrating may not really be bass, but it sure feels like it, and it definately kicks the music up and makes it a lot more intense and fun to listen to. For so much options built into a small CD player, it has AMAZING sound quality. This may not be Bose (for you music product illiterates, Bose is probably the most expensive and high quality brand of sound products), but it can definately match up to it. The headphones seem to make the music even more powerful than the huge Sony system in our living room. So if sound and bass is what you're aiming for, this CD player definately has it. As for the headphones, they aren't nessecarily uncomfortable, but I have to admit, after a few minutes, the headphones do begin to hurt. They feel fine for the first half hour or so, but they get slightly painful. But it's still worth the extra bass it gives you, so just use the little pads it comes with. The headphones are also very light. I had expected them to be like huge and heavy because of the bass thing, but its surprisingly very light. Although I haven't broken it YET, the band does seem kind of weak so be careful. These headphones by it self [are expensive]. I am also a very clumsy person. I tend to spill things and drop things and hit them on accident often. This CD player is water-proof (I can spill my drinks on it and not worry! not that I do it on purpose..), it has a very sturdy metal/aluminum cover, and it has a HOLD option, which prevents things from accidently touching it and messing up your songs or whatever. One thing though, the CD player's inside seems a little unsturdy. When you open it, you see the band connecting the controls on top of the CD to the inside of the CD. I dunno.. it just kind of makes me feel like it might break or something. Also, if you're panicing because you can't find where to put the batteries, it's also on the inside. In a way,t his may be strange or you may think it's bad, but it prevents batteries from falling out, and also, just because it's new doesn't mean it's bad. When you are done playing the CD player, you can push a small button in the middle of the CD (where it clutches the CD)and it will pop out. Easy. Overall, this is definately a high quality CD player with great sound and great bass and looks stylish. Except, I'm not too sure about the sturdy thing.. the insides of it just freak me out. That tiny little plastic band... anyways, I hope this helps! Get it! I can't think of a better CD player!

1.0 out of 5 stars I made the mistake of buying this..., October 9, 2000

I bought this when it first came out and was extremely satisfied with it for the first six months. The last five months were terrible. My player would skip for no reason and I figured it was due to my cd's. These last two months (and I'm still under warranty) my player's antiskip does not work at all and it can not play past the first half of my cd. The really sad part is that I have only dropped it twice and that was during my first month of ownership, so my personal use was not the cause of the problems with this player.

Here's the truly frustrating part. I registered my player with Panasonic and I misplaced my receipt. Because of this misplacement, I can not repair it under warranty, even though my player has it's birthdate stamped in it (november, 2000)! Goes to show you customer service for you.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not at all comfortable, May 15, 2001
This review is from: Panasonic SL-SW880K Brainshaker X-Treme Portable CD Player (Black and Red) (Electronics)
The earphones are totally uncomfortable. It skips sometimes on a slight move and complicated to use. I don't jog with it.....I meditate with it..Had it been easier to return..I would have. But for now..I'll have to wait for it to die to get my money's worth. Watch the thing might last forever!

I am very disappointed in this CD player. Maximum volume on the unit is MUCH too low and the construction of this player is not as sturdy as the description would have you believe. This item is very over-priced and NOT worth it, I would strongly advise another choice.
