I just bought this yesterday and took it out for a spin - it never skipped once and made my car sound like Carnegie Hall. I drove over some pretty formidable New York City pot holes and it still held its own. It's nice and small too, so it fits perfectly in the spot I previously stored my sunglasses. The remote control is very cool too - a must for the car. This is a great non-car companion as well - the headphones are pretty good and the extra bass option sounds great (even in the car). In my opinion, this is a solid portable cd player with just the right features at a very reasonable price. Many thanks to the other Amazon reviewers who steered me away from other cd players I was considering. I'm very happy, so far, with this one.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Panasonic SL-SX282C Portable CD Player with Car Kit and 40-Second Anti-Skip (Electronics)
I recently bought this product after reading the reviews of others. I have never owned anything by Panasonic and was somewhat skeptical about the reviews. But after having it for over a week I can honestly say all the 5-star ratings are accurate. True to its claim, the CD player has not skipped a single time. And I have put it through the test! With the car adapter, I plugged it in to my vehicle and have driven over the potholes, metal plates, and uneven streets of the District of Columbia without a hitch. After a while you even forget that it's not an integral part of your vehicle; the same is true for trail hiking, walking, etc. I have even tossed it around a bit with no noticeable lapses. The headphones are very good and more than what you would expect from a manufacturer. One area of criticism would be that the headphone jack doesn't sit too tightly in the receiver, so what may seem like a skip is actually the wire coming out of the plug. Other than that, I think it's a great product with very good sound that is well worth the price.

I did my homework on personal cd players and I'm really glad I did. I could NOT be more pleased with the Panasonic SX282. I use it when I'm exercising and I've never had it skip even once. I sort of dismissed the fact that it came with a remote, as I didn't think I'd ever use it. But now I don't know how I'd do without it!. I put the player itself into a Case Logic camera case (which is the PERFECT size for the cd player and a couple of cds as well as some extra batteries) and it hooks around my waist. The velcro remote just pulls right off the camera-case and ZAP! I'm able to control volume, repeat songs, skip songs, whatever. Very handy when you're at the gym. And of course it comes with the car kit which is pretty handy as well. The headphones are surprisingly well-built too and stay put even when you're on the move.
All in all, I am very, very satisfied with the SX282. So if you're being a "good consumer" then you'll read some reviews on different models. My recommendation is that you make this cd player your final stop.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!, April 16, 2001

This is an excellent buy. Panasonic has been around for many, many, years and this cd player is great! It has the new NO SKIP feature which makes it nice to jog with or go bike riding! You can't turn on and off the skip protection because it is on all the time, so you don't forget to turn it on. And it has a wireless remote,(which comes in handy). This is a great cd player! I recommend this cd player to everyone!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's worth the money, April 22, 2001

This cd player is a super buy. It has everything you want from a cd player. It is also backed up with the Panasonic name so you know that you are buying a very good product. The cd player plays cd-r/cd-rw's without a problem. The sound is super on this cd player. It really gives you a kick between the ears if your in the mood. Everything you need is right on top of the cd player. The remote control is a good thing to have but not that important. The only thing I found to be bad about the cd player is that it does not come with a AC adapter for your house. But otherwise this cd player is a excellent buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely Worth It, May 12, 2001
This review is from: Panasonic SL-SX282C Portable CD Player with Car Kit and 40-Second Anti-Skip (Electronics)
I bought this CD Player while actually searching for the older model on sale, which I had owned, and had broken. I just can't get over it, because it's so cute! It's perhaps half a centimeter thicker than the previous one, and the setup is on the side in three circles rather then in the middle in that odd rectangle of blue that the old one had. The headphones are the same, and this model seems to be designed slightly more efficiently in that the volume is by button, not by the little nob that you turn from one to ten, and instead of the randomizer and hold being on the side, the only thing on the side now is the hold button and the headphone jack, making the buttons and options much better organized in my opinion.

Another thing that I just love is the tiny little remote, which is approx. 1.5 inches by 2.5 inches, and is simply adorable. One might ask why you would need a remote in a portable cd player, but it's very handy if you don't want to hold it and can put it away in a bag with your headphones sticking out, and put the remote in your pocket or such, seeing as the remote works when the machine is on hold. The remote can't turn the player on and off, which could be good if you don't want the remote to accidentally play your cds, but bad if you want to turn it on while it's in your bag.

All in all, it's definitely worth the money, especially if you get your parents to pay for most of it like I did! ^_^

I have proven other models also of Panasonic in the past and all have operated perfectly, however the design of the screen and the buttons of this new model make it better to the anterior, also the sound is amazing. I have utilized it in my car and the disk has never skipped. Just Buy It.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy It Now, August 23, 2001

I have always had great experiences with Panasonic and buying this portable CD player just made me even more content with Panasonic. When they say NoSkip, they mean it. It hasn't skipped a single beat at all. It is light, small, and easy to take anywhere. The car kit is great too! The big LCD screen is a plus and easy to read. To top this all off you get a cool little remote that you can use while driving or whatever you're doing without getting distracted. That way you won't cause any road rage. The headphones and extra bass make you feel like your hearing the music live. Basically, just buy it! It's the best!

I'm so glad I bought this particular discman. I purchased it specifically for when I go jogging and have found that the company lives up to their word that it won't skip. There was one day where it seemed to skip a little, but it was terribly windy out that day so I'd have to say that was a fluke. I've gone jogging over a dozen times since & haven't had a problem. The sound quality is magnificent too. I don't think you'll be disappointed (unless you live in the "Windy City"--LOL!)

I was looking for a new CD player since my other one broke a while ago. Anyways, this morning I was looking in the Target Sales Paper and found this CD player coupon on it. I thought it was pretty nice, and I checked other people's review before I bought this. Like the other reviews written here, this IS a great machine. I'm loving it! The sound quality is great, nice design, and the remote is pretty nice.
