Having worn out many rice cookers in my lifetime, it was time to buy a new one. So what makes this one so different and better than the others I've had?- This one has a gasket that completely seals the cooking pot. The steam is allowed to escape in only one place. This makes for very fluffy rice! All of my others did not have this feature, and the ones that did were much more expensive than this one. - Other conveniences include the cover drip catcher - to relieve wet countertops when the lid is opened.... - The locking cover helps to - to keep people from opening up the unit and release all of the steam. - Add to this the non-stick coated pot inside, and clean up is a snap - just a rinse will do. This is a professional rice maker, at a fair price! Beware - for those of you who like the bottom rice browned and crispy - this is not the one to get - it's fluffy all the way to the bottom.

I have owned many rice cookers in my time. Guess what I found out- you pay for what you get. I currently have a Zojirushi at home. Without a doubt, that is one one the best rice cookers in the world, but it is costly.I wanted to get a rice cooker for my girlfriend and stumbled across this wonderful rice cooker at Amazon. It was on sale and I had a coupon. So let's give it a try. As I am only at her place about 3 times a week, she's the one that does all the rice cooking. To my surprise, the very first time she made rice with this rice cooker, I could not find any crust at the bottom!!! Trust me that is a good thing. If you are thinking of getting an affordable rice cooker that won't quit on you, GET THIS ONE. It won't burn and with the non-stick surface inside, clean up is a snap. It does cook all kinds of rice- from brown to basmati to jasmine. Perfectly. Best of all, my girlfriend is an expert at rice cooking now.

This is the one for really great rice. If all the other makes create "burned" or "over-cooked" rice on the bottom of the cooker, this one will surpass the others. I have tried everything from two cups to a full load and end up with no more than a tablespoon of "burnished" rice on the bottom of the cooker, which is to say it is slightly browned but certainly not burned. And try using boullion for your liquid for out-of-this-world taste! A great cooker for a reasonable price, which holds to Panasonic's tradition of superior products.

As a broke university student, I depend on this rice cooker for my very survival. It's never let me down once! You can't depend on the instructions, it always requires more water than it says. Once you get that worked out, though, it makes perfect rice EVERY TIME! Brown, white, short grain, medium grain, long grain... It's all wonderful! A little more water, and you've got perfect, clumpy, Chinese take-out style rice. A little less, and you've got soft but well-defined grains perfect for frying. Don't let the "rice cooker" moniker fool you, though. This is a _very_ versatile cooking appliance! I've made tofu, pasta... I'm currently eating some ravioli made in the selfsame cooker. Even a one-person clambake would work in this machine! Cleaning is limited to rinsing with hot water, and wiping with a paper towel. I don't know what liquid dishsoap would do to Teflon, but it's simply not necessary when cleaning the cooker. Okay, every once in a while, it burns a little bit on the bottom, and I mean very little, you won't even notice the burnt flavor in more than a bite or two. And the inside lid needs a good cleaning every once in a while (after a few dozen uses). But that's as far as I can find fault with this cooker. And for the price, you can't beat that balance of positives and negatives. Rice cookers are the greatest boon to zero-hassle gourmet cooking since the Crock Pot. And as far as I'm concerned, this is the best of the breed, and a fantastic value.

I researched a lot of rice cookers, and finally bought this one. I'm single and only cook for one most of the time, so it's a little bigger than I really need, but I'm glad I bought it. Rice comes out perfectly every time, and it's easy to use, easy to clean. No mess, no hassle, no uneven cooking, no problems. I highly recommend it and am glad I spent a little more than I had initially planned. It was well worth it to get something that I love, and that will last (not to mention that it's good looking). Boiling rice on the stove seems archaic to me, when you can do it by pushing a button instead. I eat lots of curry with rice now, and rice pudding for breakfast with the leftovers. YUM!!!! Get this one. It won't let you down.

My old Toshiba rice cooker of over 15 yrs of use finally gave out. I purchased another brand and was totally dissatisfied with it.. I've been cooking rice for "years" and with that other brand was never able to make a pot of rice that wasn't burnt. Needless to say I gave that rice cooker away as a steamer only. This Panasonic rice cooker has been a totally reliable cooker. Not once has it browned or burnt the rice. I have already cooked at least 50lbs of rice since my purchase, and every pot has come out perfect. My reccomendation is, if you don't have this one. You better get it, you won't be let down. I have also left rice in it overnight, like I have done for years and never once has the rice been sour the next day. Get this one and you'll be very happy.... I am...

I bought this for my husband who loves rice, and it has been fantastic! The results are superior and the rice is delicious. We haven't had any scorching, or burning or even browning of the rice, and the keep warm feature is wonderful. I would highly reccommend this for anyone who loves steamed rice!

Love my Panasonic Rice Cooker! Great buy for what it does!,

I read all of the reviews and it seemed like this one had the same features as the expensive leading "Z" Japanese brand, at much less cost. I have loved it. Have made only brown rice in it, adding in kidney beans and sauteed onions & herbs to one recipe, and canned kale & herbs to another. I added slightly more water when adding these extra ingredients. Both have come out GREAT. We have never had problems with browning on the bottom, (though I like that part, called "pegado," in Spanish!) I like the spoon holder on the side, the retractable cord, the warming feature, and the moisture cup that can be emptied. It is big. We've never made more than 4 cups, but I guess I'd be glad to be able to make a big load if needed for some event. (I store it inside a big stock pot that I already had, so it doesn't take up extra room. The directions could be better, and it could include some recipes, which it doesn't. But after reading all of the reviews, I think this does FINE, and costs way less than the "Z" ones. (...)

Great rice cooker. Easy to use,

This is the first rice cooker that we bought that can keep warm the rice for hours without drying out the rice. The first one we had is the open cooker, which the non-stick only last a few weeks :(.It cooks rice nicely. The rice does not stick. Great and easy to use. Love it. |
