Solid well made kit includes sheet metal baseplate and ducting to redirect microwave exhaust to front of cabinet.
Great fit and finish and installation very easy.

I cannot believe this was all I had to do. I have been in this new house for 5 years. My original microwave, a very expensive Monogram convection ($1200)(800 power) has broken down 3 times now. The magnatron is covered by warranty for 10 years. Big deal, the house call & installation alone ran me $250 each time. I found a really nice Stainless Steel Panasonic at Sams Club (after this 3rd breakdown)for $148. This microwave while not convection (I never used the convection part in the orginal one anyway) has a large turntable which the other one didn't and was much larger inside capacity 1250 power. Being that it is a table model and the original was a built in is where my problem was. I searched all over town for a frame kit to no avail. Got on internet and found a few but were not sure if they would fit. One seller advised me against it. When I found the one on Amazon, I decided to take the chance. It arrived so fast and I had it up the same morning. I just had to call my husband when it came time for the muscle of putting the oven back in. He laughed and patted me on the back and said I did good. He saw me running all over town for a week and then took a chance and it was perfect. It is beautiful and strong and if my oven ever breaks again, I have the frame all ready in place. It looks like it came with the house. I can't be happier. Connie

The materials are good quality and installation was easy, although the instructions about installing the ducting on the microwave oven were a little vague.

The face trim comes pre-assembled and was slightly out of square, but that was easy to fix. Just be aware that you need to measure both top and bottom when centering the face trim on the cabinet.

For the riduculous amount of money you'd think they'd at least de-burr the edges and corners of this thing. After installation I found that a slight touch of a corner tears your skin open. Maybe if the corners were cut straight and aligned, there wouldn't be a sharp corner (actually all four corners) sticking out. I had to remove the trim and CAREFULLY file the corners and edges. Garbage production. The manufacturer should be ashamed. I wish I could bill them for my time.

I ordered this trim kit to coordinate with the NN-SD967S stainless steel oven unit. I was replacing an 8-year old Jenn-Air that I didn't really like anyway, so I was excited to upgrade to stainless for this appliance. The pieces were beautiful together, but my delight ended there.

The trim kit includes two pieces to attach to the unit itself, along with a base that elevates the unit off the floor of your cabinet. I was not surprised by any of this and I found the installation instructions for all the pieces to be relatively simple to follow. Here's where the trouble began. When the unit sits on the base and has the ventilation apparatus attached to outside (per the instructions) it increases the overall height by several inches. It no longer fit into my cabinet opening after I'd put the ventilation pieces on. I could have used just the base, or used just the ventilation pieces, but not both. Either way, I risked causing a fire because the unit could not vent properly. I wasn't willing to take that chance. I now have to return both and order a microwave with substantially smaller dimensions, and order another trim kit to fit the new unit.

I think a disclosure should be made on the website that if you're planning to use the unit as a built-in, the necessary cabinet dimensions are quite a bit larger than the dimensions of the actual unit. If I'd known the trim kit added this much height, I'd have ordered the correct one in the first place. My old unit only had the base, so I didn't know to expect additional clearance for the ventilation pieces that were attached.

I had to return the product. Amazon was first class, but the problem was with the product description on the website. Not enough technical information, the product did not fit and I could not use it.

The trim kit was easy to install and encloses my new microwave in the kitchen cabinet nicely. Provides a great finishing touch.

While this trim kit does not specifically list models "NN-SD987S" nor "NN-SD997S", it does fit perfectly. The manuals for these models still say use trim kits TK929SF or TK939SF, but those are no longer manufactured. Even Pansonic customer service (as of Aug 2011) will say use those discontinued kits. I found a single buried web reference implying the new model trim kit (TK-929SA) would work with microwaves "NN-SD987S" and "NN-SD997S" and so took a chance. It works GREAT. Too sad the trim kit cost as much as the microwave itself... that is just pathetic.

I am at the end of a major remodel and ordered this item three months ago in preparation for its installation. When the builder opened the package yesterday there were two tracks at the bottom that had been spot welded on. Those welds were broken and needed to be repaired by the builder. For the ridiculous expense of this item, you'd think that the craftsmanship would be just a little better. That is what I get for not opening it immediately after receiving it and assuming that it was in good condition.

We fit this into a cabinet made for a Panasonic microwave made in 1979. The trim kit was for a stainless microwave, but we used a black one of the same size. All fit with minor modifications--I'm no handyman--and went together extremely well, enough to satisfy the hardest taskmaster of all: My Wife!
