Panasonic TC-11LV1 11-Inch LCD Flat-Panel TV-DVD Combo

This is one well thought out piece of equipment. DVDs load and
play well. The remote works well and is convenient. What's
really amazing about this unit is that unlike many LCD screens
this one can actually provide pretty satisfactory black levels.
As a result, the picture looks *great*, not just "good for an
LCD screen".

Using the "Avia" test/set up DVD this unit performs quite well.
Black levels can be accurately set, Gray scale tracking is quite
good, color accuracy is also quite good. The backlight control
is very adjustable so the LCD looks great in all lighting
conditions and the black levels are appropriate.

Despite what the manual says, this player can actually playback
some DVD-Rs. Four of the five DVD-Rs I have load and play
correctly.

The tuner also works well and has MTS stereo and SAP function.
No closed captioning. Using cable TV produces a very pleasing
picture. The tuner also receives pictures off the air. The

tuner seems to be quite sensitive and all local and some
weaker distant channels are received.

I wish Panasonic had gone just a bit further and incorporated
a radio -- it would have been a complete unit then! Cannot
play MP3 discs.

The TC-11LV1 isn't cheap but it is unique, eye-catching device
that also happens to perform quite well. Highly recommended.
