2nd generation 3d glasses work well,
By
This review is from: Panasonic TY-EW3D2MMK2 Ultimate 3D Starter Kit (Avatar 3D + 2 Rechargeable Glasses) (Electronics)
If you bought a Panasonic 3d TV, then you are going to have to invest in a pair of their glasses (1st or 2nd generation, these are 2nd) to view 3d material. The glasses themselves are not that bad. I wouldn't be wearing them for longer than a standard movie viewing, only because I personally feel that I don't want to stress my eyes any longer than that. The 3d effect was great, I had a bit of flickering in the glasses because I had a florescent light on during the evening, but it went away when I turned the light off. Price is too expensive for what you get, however, and it really should be packaged into the TV.I wear prescription glasses, and they fit over my glasses comfortably (this kit comes with medium size glasses). My prescription glasses are narrow, but I had plenty of room, so I would think that even if you had larger frames that they should fit. The main concern I would think would be your head size in deciding to go with small, medium, or large. I would guess that medium is the standard size for adults, with small being for kids or adults with a smaller head, and large for those with a bigger cranium. I don't think they sell this kit with anything other than medium glasses, so if you need one of the other sizes you'll have to buy them individually.

Great Glasses after lots of research,

I've been researching 3D TV and glasses for about 2 months. I finally decided on these along with a Panasonic 50" 3D TV. I read reviews about glasses being uncomfortable, people say light gets in some, other complain about dead spots, ect ect. It seems there's a complaint with almost any glasses. Some more then others. These seemed to have the best reviews and not many complaints. So I went with them.I have zero complaints. They are comfortable and don't bother me even after 4 hours of wearing them gaming or watching movies. I don't really get some of the complaints to be honest. I guess there's always "that guy" out there who will complain about anything. These glasses are good quality, work well, and are comfortable for me (male, medium build, my wife is small and she has no complaints either). I really like to on/off switch and the red LED light to indicate when they are charging. All-in-all these are worth the price.

This is a great 3D movie, and a must have as some of the other folks have said. This is by far the best 3D movie I have in my collection. If you are reading this review, then you are probably considering buying the 3D version. This is only my opinion, but if you are like myself and as you were sitting in the theater watching this and you thought to yourself "I would love to watch this in 3D at home!" then this is worth every bit of $200 and up. You won't regret it, but you have to be careful when choosing the dealer.Everything was fine, I ordered it, it took 2-3 days to get to my house. No problems.....until I received it in the mail. I put it in the PS3 and it wasn't 3D!!!!!It was the Blu-Ray that had been put in an Avatar 3D box and then put back into the plastic sleeve. I had just spent about $230.00 all together on this and felt like passing out. I try really hard not to make stupid decisions, but this one wasn't looking very good. I wrote the dealer and explained what had happened and that I was extremely angry and that this was going to have to be taken care of. I was afraid that they would not have the 3D version to send me, and that they would blame me and say that I switched the discs. It was a bit traumatic. They wrote me back a few hours later and said they would take care of it. A few days later I received the 3D version of the film. So the reason I am writing this review is to let the honest people know what some of the dishonest people are doing. The Dealer explained that they have run into several instances where people buy the Avatar 3D starter kit and carefully remove the 3D version replacing it with the Blu-Ray version. They then either return it claiming it has not been opened, or they sell it, as to not get stuck paying the $150.00-$400. I guess it is quite common. So I just wanted to give you a heads-up. I got lucky with the dealer, because they were honest. I fear that some people won't be so lucky. A few things you can do is try to buy from the dealer who has more ratings, this in no way guarantees you won't be ripped off, but usually the dealers with more ratings have more experience and may be easier to deal with. For this product I would not deal with a start-up dealer, too risky. You can also write the dealer and have them check to make sure the 3D disc is in the case before they ship. Good luck.

It's hard to find a video product where Panasonic lags the competition. They continue to make some of the best video equipment on the market, and always seem to be the best value as well. That said, Panasonic needs some design help with their 3D glasses. Specifically with the ergonomics. If your TV is mounted high on the wall, (40" or higher from the floor to the base of the TV), you probably won't have a problem when seated in a reclined position. Anything lower, and you'll wish you had an adjustable nose piece. The (2) active 3D glasses are rechargable via USB, and one charge should get you through a multi-movie marathon. They also shut off automatically if left on without a signal from the TV, which is nice. The side to side viewing angle is very good, but up and down is limited. I find myself adjusting my head and body position often, to accomodate the thin viewing plane...and that's a real pain. The 3D glasses are designed so you can wear you perscription eyeglasses, which is great, and the active shutter technology works very well with the 50" Viera 3D HDTV. (Again- mount the TV high on the wall if you recline or lay on the couch to watch movies.) We purchased the Viera 3D DVD player, 50" Viera 3D Plasma and the Avatar kit with (2) pair of active 3D glasses. Avatar is spectacular in 3D by the way. We have a Denon/Onkyo 5.1 (500 watt) surround system, which adds a lot to the experience. TIP: HDMI cables are not included, and you don't want to go cheap with your HDMI cables, despite what others may say. Overall, the 3D glasses work well, but the lack of an adjustable nose piece is problematic. Avatar is essentially a freebe with the kit.

10.5' Maximum Viewing Distance,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Panasonic TY-EW3D2MMK2 Ultimate 3D Starter Kit (Avatar 3D + 2 Rechargeable Glasses) (Electronics)
These very expensive 3D glasses will only work up to 10.5' away from the front of the screen. What? One set will work about 12' away, the other set will max out at about 11' away. The 3D stops if you get any further away! The 3D is great, but I'm not rearranging the furniture to watch in 3D. When I called Panasonic customer support to ask if there was anything that can be done to increase the distance of the glasses, the girl kept giving me the company line: "the glasses are only rated to work within the maximum distance (10.5 feet) given in the manual". Panasonic needs to increase the range of the glasses and make them cost less!

Comfortable, High quality & Effective Box Set,

This review is from: Panasonic TY-EW3D2MMK2 Ultimate 3D Starter Kit (Avatar 3D + 2 Rechargeable Glasses) (Electronics)
As a Panasonic exclusive, this version of Avatar is in stunning 3D! My friend and I were testing the new 3d Panasonic plasma I got. After playing a few rounds of Killzone 3d (amazing) we decided it was time to relax and have some dinner and watch Avatar. Boy, were we in for a surprise. Basically, we were so enthralled by the quality of the Root menu of the movie (title screen) that we couldn't keep our eyes off of the tv, thus making eating dinner impossible (or ridiculously messy). So after watching regular TV and finishing our meal, we turned the movie back on. If you saw Avatar 3D in IMAX, this version is almost identical. Seriously. This is the real deal. Seeing the 3D effects in your own home makes you realize that we are truly an amazing species on this planet, capable of great and monumental achievements! I must caution though, too much 3D action can be quite draining on your mind, especially if you game as well. All in all, this box set is totally worth the money. The glassed fit perfectly over my eyeglasses. You can plug them into any USB device to charge as well (tv, computer or ps3). They also come with a nice case for protection. Make sure to get microfiber cloth to clean the lens. The time has come: Hop on board the 3D revolution with both feet!

After Buying my panasonic 54 inch 3d tv from amazon. My family of four need 3 more pair of glasses to go with the pair thats included with the tv. I found a great deal on Panasonic 3d essential pack for $129.97 at costo's these frames are the same ones include with the tv. they are not comfortable and will not fit my 7 years old head but the included 2 3d movies Ice Age/Coraline made the price worth it. So that only left us with 3 pair of glasses so instead of buying one pair i decided to purchase the panasonic 3d ultimate pack from amazon bring our total to 5 pair of glasses. And let me tell you these are the best glasses the fit my 7 year old fine there also more comfrotable then the other one from the essential pack. only down side is the price of these shades are a bit high but if your looking for glasses to go with your panasonic 3d tv then these are the ones to get. The avatar 3d is included also which is a great bonus in its on considering its a panasonic exclusive

The glasses in this set are very commfortable and everyone in my family has to wear RX glasses underneath them. The movie pack in is great and if you don't want the movie sell it on Ebay and bring the cost of the glasses down considerably.

I like these glasses but they do not fit well for everyone. I have had a few friends complain about the fit especially on the nose. Also, this doesn't bother me but the glasses do not cover your entire viewing area. They darken the viewing area in front of you but then you get light coming in around the glasses in your peripheral vision. It doesn't bother me but I have had a couple people find this annoying.

I own one of these 3D starter kits right now and wanted to buy another one to have some extra glasses, but WOW! The price went from about $213 to almost $300 in less than a week! I am going to wait until someone sells for less. They are not worth the current price.Update...look at this price rise! This would not be possible if people were not overpaying for the items. These are not worth all these price increases. This price is up to what many dealers will charge now, so no deal here at Amazon. Disappointed. |
