5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Headphones
I bought these headphones for my husband, who has been a DJ for about 7 years. He absolutely LOVES these headphones. Most of his work is in the club environment, and he said that he has never used headphones that were better at external noise reduction, so that he could easily hear the track he was mixing in. 3.0 out of 5 stars not what i expected
i have read quite a few reviews over the last few weeks and general everyone seems to like the RP-DJ1200s. great sound, great comfort... my first disappointment, which was largely due to the amazon description, was that these are much more of an on-ear design than over the ear (unless you have 1" ears). secondly, the sound was not impressive at all. it didn't seem to have...

Most of his work is in the club environment, and he said that he has never used headphones that were better at external noise reduction, so that he could easily hear the track he was mixing in. I did a fair amount of research before I purchased these and have found in many places where they were rated at or near the top in their class. Right now my husband wouldn't trade these headphones for anything else currently on the market.

5.0 out of 5 stars would never switch to...., November 22, 2007
This review is from: Panasonic Technics RP-DJ1200A Foldable DJ Headphones with Swing Arm System and Coil Cord (Electronics)
I just bought these -and- These sound better and look better , than any headphone i'v owned. Iv had the Sony MDR-V700DJ , and the 500, and both failed. These are amazng , they have a unique swivel where you can have them on and push one cup below or above your ear. Then it can be locked or pushed back .
would never switch to any other brand or style

5.0 out of 5 stars Best dj headphone out there!, October 13, 2007
Over the last 6 years i've owned many pairs of dj headphones (pioneer hdj-1000s, sony v700s, v7506, stantons, hd280s, etc) every one of them eventually broke; with the exception of the rp-dj1200. I absolutely love them. They've served me great over the years taking abuse from sweat, taking em on and off, cord getting caught and pulled, dropped, crushed, and anything else a dj could expect.
The sound quality is great for a dj can, isolation is pretty good, swiveling design is the absolute best i've seen yet from any headphone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Headphones!, January 11, 2008

I bought these headphones as a gift for my boyfriend and he LOVES them. He's been a DJ for 8 years and he's never owned anything with better sound or comfort. The quality is excellent compared to the flimsy Sony MDR-V700 which break easily. They look great and aren't too heavy. Worth every penny.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not just a great "DJ" headphone--GREAT sound period, January 5, 2010
This review is from: Panasonic Technics RP-DJ1200A Foldable DJ Headphones with Swing Arm System and Coil Cord (Electronics)
First of all, let me mention there is a difference between the "RP-DJ1200" model, the "1200a" model, and the "RP-DJ1210" model, which is available from Amazon UK, but not here. I've heard them all (owned them all, in fact), and all sound good, but here I would like to recommend the "RP-DJ1210" model as the best of the bunch. It is simply a GREAT headphone. I've also owned the Sennheiser 600 and 650 models, the Denon AH-D1001, and headphones by Audiotechnica and other well-known brands. I listen most often to these Technics--yes, you heard it right, the Technics. They simply have the best combination of NATURAL, OPEN, DETAILED, BALANCED, and NON-FATIGUING sound I've ever heard. Period. Their overall sonic signature is very similar to the Denon AH-D1001, and with a larger ear-cup, the Denon is arguably more "open" sounding, with excellent bass and midrange sound. But in the treble the Denon clouds up and loses its transparency, whereas the Technics has enough transparency to allow you to hear the hall sound (the ambient echo of the performance hall) in classical recordings, and details such as reverb trails on electronic music (the Denon just doesn't, which means I own it but don't listen to it). I don't care about the differences between over-the-ear, on the ear, or ear canal headphones--all I care about is balanced, detailed sound. It's true, the Sennheisers, in certain parts of their range, can sound better, but they also have a certain dryness or harshness in the low treble that makes them hard to listen to for long. The Technics I can listen to--and do--for hours and hours at a time. Get these.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent to hear, not easy to use., October 18, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Panasonic Technics RP-DJ1200A Foldable DJ Headphones with Swing Arm System and Coil Cord (Electronics)
The sound quality is excellent however the size of the handset is relatively small, which makes the continued use a bit uncomfortable because of the pressure on the external area of the ears. Besides, the buttons to lock and release are slightly fragile for constant use and suggest a possible decline after some time. The handset cable could also be removable but the quality is excellent and being coiled allows great mobility. Beyond that, the adapter P10/P2 is incredibly convenient and sturdy. The sound isolation is not perfect and if the sound set is adjusted to low volume you can hear the ambient sound (though not bother to come because of the high quality of sound reproduction of the set).

4.0 out of 5 stars Great cans!!! Comfortable, super durable!!!, October 31, 2009

These cans are great!!! Really comfortable for long hours of use and they have a really good sound quality and isolation. I've had them for 5 years & they're still working fine. I now switched to Sennheiser HD25-1 II which are fantastic cans, by far the best headphones I've used, but as a second choice I would definitely go for these, plus the price-tag is considerably lower. Technics is top notch!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Technics RPDJ-1200a, August 9, 2009
This review is from: Panasonic Technics RP-DJ1200A Foldable DJ Headphones with Swing Arm System and Coil Cord (Electronics)
I've been using these headphones in a professional nightclub setting for 4 years, and I'm just buying my second pair now. What I'm trying to say is that these things are rugged, way more than many competitors which are known to religiously break at the hinges. I love one-ear (as opposed to over-ear) cans, and they're loud enough to keep me connected in most settings. The only "malfunction" I've found is that the padding came off one of the ear cups, but that's bound to happen after many years of abuse.

I've used them in non-DJing applications, too, and they're comfortable on the head for extended periods of time.

i have read quite a few reviews over the last few weeks and general everyone seems to like the RP-DJ1200s. great sound, great comfort... my first disappointment, which was largely due to the amazon description, was that these are much more of an on-ear design than over the ear (unless you have 1" ears). secondly, the sound was not impressive at all. it didn't seem to have the depth that i was anticipating. i'm by no means an audiophile but general like high quality music products and these don't come close in my opinion. they were reasonably comfortable for an on-ear headphone though.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST HEADPHONES /BASS/INCREDIBLE SOUND, October 23, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've used most every headset available. Sennheiser's, Sony Pro's, SkullCandy/Hershe, etc...and these headphones blow everything else out of the water. There is no comparison. I'm back for a 2nd set to make sure I've got a back up where ever I go. They were referred to me by a well known DJ. I'd been really discouraged with everything I had and was well over $1000 easy in costs. I was desperate to have the best sound available and also demand top quality sound for all note ranges and deep, hard bass, with clarity and best comfort available. I'd just received the Sennheiser's and hated them. They run around the same cost range as these Technics RP-DJ1200A's.
I shipped over night.

The experience was beyond anything I'd ever known by what pro headphones could do. I can see why they have five star ratings. Don't waste your time and money on anything else. Most my other friends and DJ's use Sennheiser's......so I've sent the word out to throw them away and buy these! I have not bothered to write any review for a headset until now. They are THAT GREAT!! I use them on a large desk top pc with massive sound card and use both adaptors, depending on where I plug in. The 1200's are black with no coil, and the 1200A's have coil and are silver. Sound quality is exactly the same. I did order the 1200's but received the 1200A's..I do not care about color, only sound quality. They have great ear pads, design, adjustments on headband/ear pads and come with carry pouch as well. BEST HEADPHONES YET! Loud, clear, exact, hits bass/high/mid ranges perfectly. WOW! PERFECTION EXACT!

I also use on my synths/korgs.
