1 Fatal Flaw,

This otherwise excellent product has 1 fatal design flaw for me, which you may or may not care about. Here is the flaw: when you connect a wired headset to the cordless handset, the sound volume is too weak even with the volume control set to maximum. I have tried using 3 different wired headsets with the same bad results. Panasonic tech support was not able to fix this problem despite my spending hours on the phone with them (using my land line!) By the way, my hearing is normal, and the wired headsets produce loud sound volume when used with my cell phones and desk phones. Speaking as an electrical engineer myself, this is a design flaw. Panasonic needs to boost the gain on the output jack used by the wired headsets. Until they do, I cannot recommend this product for use with a wired headset. Sadly, this is an excellent product in every other respect.

Has all the features I need and works great. Sound quality is very clear. The only drawback is I wish the volume could go a little bit higher.

Panasonic Answering machine comments,

Our phone and additional handset work fine, but the voice caller ID feature is more annoying than useful. The computer generated voice has a distinct accent that is hard to understand; for example, ILL (Illinois) is pronounced something that sounds like "ariel". I haven't tried all the functions yet, but I hope they work better than the voice.

List of Flaws,
This review is from: Panasonic Dect 6.0 Titanium Black Cordless Phone with Answering Machine (KX-TG6441T) (Office Product)
I bought this one to replace my earlier Panasonic cordless phone system. Each time, I have had 4+ handsets connected. There are improvements but there are also flaws.
FLAWS ===== - The answering machine does not "Beep". This is really annoying since my phone is not at eye level, so I don't notice the flashing indicator light. An option to play a simple "Beep" would be good. My answering machine from 20+ years ago could alert me with a "beep". This one can't. So if have vision problems, this phone may not be for you. - If you have caller ID service, this phone will read out the incoming caller's name. This works well, but it takes 2 rings for the caller ID name to be read aloud. By that time, you're probably next to your phone. Since the called ID name is displayed immediately, why can't the caller ID be spoken then as well? - The instruction manual is not that user-friendly. If you're buying this as a gift for an elderly person, be ready to set it up for them. You also need to save the manual or download the PDF manual file from Panasonic's website. Even after you learn how to set everything, there are some features which can only be set by inputting a specific 3 digit code in order to set. Those features cannot be set from the phone's menus. - Low volume. This isn't an issue for me, but many people find the volume too low. GOOD POINTS =========== If you can overlook all of the flaws mentioned above, then there are several good points. + Good range + Good clarity without interference (in my house). I have many wireless signals in my house and the phone's reception works fine. I have a WiFi Router, my neighbor's WiFi signals, wireless baby audio monitors, wireless baby video monitors, and a wireless TV headset. + Option to connect up to 6 total handsets. + Easy to Read LCD display with reasonable, easy to understand menus. EXTRA NOTES =========== * If you intend to add more handsets later, then you will end up paying more. It's cheaper to buy your phone system with multiple handsets from the start. You can see this same base unit with 5 handsets here: Panasonic Dect 6.0 Titanium Black Cordless Phone with Answering Machine (KX-TG6445T) * As with all cordless systems, this phone will not work during a blackout. Have a cheap wired phone (which doesn't use an AC adapter) available.

PROS: My ENT doctor recommended Panasonic, as having best clarity, also the listener at the other end does not complain about "echo" any longer. That's true but,
CONS: the volume cannot be raised as much as I would like it. The manual is difficult to understand and tech support was not much help. I had to figure out how to use this phone mostly by myself. I am disappointed having to do most operations from the handset , especially scrolling through addresses. No back lighting on base, nor any indication of number of messages waiting.

Bouhgt it to replace my 2.4 GHz phone. Needed base keypad and headset jack - that's the only model that has both. I did not have any problem with the headset volume. It is somewhat tedious to erase calls from the the CID list. Also, answering system does not show the number of old undeleted messages, so the memory could be nearly full or full if you do not delete them in time.

Good overall, but a couple of problems,

The phone is good overall, but there are a couple of areas that Panasonic could improve upon. First of all, the handset volume isn't loud enough even at the highest setting (although both the base and handset speakerphones are good, and I had no problem - surprisingly - with a headset attached to the handset). Secondly, the display is somewhat hard to read - except for the 4 seconds that it is back-lit when the handset is removed from the base. As many programmable features as this phone has, you would think that one would be the length of time the of the back-lighting! (One side effect of the poor display is that its hard to see "IN USE" message. On my older Panasonic, a bright LED would light when it was in use. Finally, a yellow LED on the top of the handset lights when you have a message waiting on the telephone company's VM, but its placement makes it hard to see when your sitting in front of the phone. On the positive side, the range and clarity are very good, and the verbal called ID is good too (and can be disabled if too annoying).

Although I haven't needed tech support so I can't rate that, everything else about this phone is great. I love the larger display, features such as talking caller ID and speakerphone on the handset as well as on the base, an optional wall mount, the typical Panasonic quality, future additional handsets available and a standard, easy to operate answering machine.

This is a good phone in many ways but when we use speaker phone, people on the other side are not able to understand clearly. Battery life is great when not using the speaker phone.
