IPS
Dynamic Contrast

Wide Viewing Angle

With VIERA's wide 178° viewing angle, you see clear, vibrant images from every seat in the room. The backlight features a wide transmission aperture that enhances contrast between light and dark and improves response to provide smoother motion images.

120Hz Motion Picture Pro 4

Even fast-moving scenes are displayed sharply and clearly. With a 60Hz video signal input, 120Hz Motion Picture Pro 4 makes 120 frames/second from 60 frames/second. This increases the frame count to allow natural frame-to-frame transitions, for smooth motion images with high resolution. Motion Focus Technology also reduces flicker and effectively suppresses blurring and afterimages.

Dynamic Contrast

By combining the highly light-transmissive IPS Panel and high-brightness LED backlight, Panasonic has attained both high contrast and low power consumption. Also, by detecting the contrasting parts of the scene, the backlight is adjusted to maintain a brightness that is optimal for each area. Deep blacks are reproduced with no fading. The contrast between the brilliance of diamond-like stars and the deep black of the night sky produces a sharp, crisp image.

Game Mode

Games are much more fun when there's no lag in operation. VIERA automatically chooses settings that provide the optimal image, so you get super-fast response and no delays. Even dark scenes with delicately rendered details are beautiful and easy to see.

EASY IPTV

Simply press the VIERA Tools button on the remote control to directly access a variety of Internet services. Enjoy online music and movies with ease.

DLNA / Wi-Fi Ready

Connect a DLNA-compatible VIERA and DLNA-compatible AV equipment to your home network, and you can watch movies, listen to music, and view photos from any room in the house. VIERA's Wi-Fi capability gives you even more layout flexibility. *Must have wireless USB adapter for Wi-Fi, such as DY-WL10

I bought this back in March and it was delivered within 3 days, thank you Amazon! It worked great for almost two months, the picture was stunning. Then one day I sat down to watch something and the image flickered a couple of times then went totally black. The power light just blinked steadily, no picture, no sound. Resetting the power only led me to the same results. Worked with Panasonic on-line support, they referred me to a local repair shop. My TV then spent over a month at their facility while it waited for parts, the end result was the LCD panel itself was to blame. Panasonic then shipped out a brand new TV of the same model for me to take home. I have now had the replacement TV for nearly a month and today the screen is starting to flicker... If I have one more issue I will be requesting a full refund from Panasonic.

I was excited for this TV to show up at my door 2 days after I ordered it (thank you amazon prime). I am very happy with my new Panasonic Viera LED HDTV. Some people have expressed having some issues with their TV's but its possible they just happened to receive a defective one (It happens and those who normally get a bad TV complain while us happy people forget to write reviews). There are no dead or stuck pixels. The picture seems to be great quality. The speakers are about as good as a TV is going to have. I am not sure why so many people expect the speakers in the LED LCD's to blow your mind. If you want superb sound buy yourself a nice 5.1 or 7.1 surround system. The Netflix works great, not too sluggish, when you have an Ethernet cable hooked up to the TV. It only plays netflix, amazon video but if your really into streaming you should probably look into a Roku or Logitech Google TV (both are around 99$). I played a few PS3 games and I was really impressed with the response time and overall quality picture during game play.Over all the sound quality, picture and appearance are all great and if your looking for a great 42" LED I would suggest this TV. I plan on following up in a few more weeks.

Update Oct 25 2011

So far the TV has been great with out any issues. After I bought it I did update the TV software. The Netflix is more limited then I would like you cant search ). The TV sound is fine for normal TV but if you like movies surround is a must. I bought a Panasonic blu ray player to use with this TV and I was very impressed with the over all picture quality The New remastered Lion King Looks really good ). Viera link is pretty cool since you can use the tv remote with the blu ray player. I would recommend it to anyone in the 42" led lcd tv market. It works just fine and has no issues.

I did an extensive search across the whole LED television market for a good 4 months before finally deciding to purchase this TV and I have to say I am 100% happy with this TV. I have had it for a month now and love it. It has excellent clarity but also excellent sound quality, especially when compared to other LED's. Since LED's are so thin, they normally are not strong when it comes to sound performance, however, the E30's quality is great. Combine all of that with the fact that this TV is priced at under $700 at Amazon and you have the best mid-level LED TV. I was comparing it with the Sharp 830 and the Sony ex700 and this one is by far superior. I would have been willing to pay just as much for this TV, as I would have for those two, around $100. But again buying this at $660 allowed me to get a nice TV stand and couches for around the same price. It was by far my best purchase this year.

Update: I still like this tv, but I'm reducing my rating to three stars. After 45 days of ownership the tv internet apps intermittently do not pass audio out of the tv via the optical output. I have a optical connection to a home theater system. All of my HDMI components continue to pass audio to the home theater via the optical cable, but more than half the time the TV's internet apps don't pass the signal. If I enable the tv's speakers the audio is present, it's just not getting sent out of the optical output. This is a big bummer. Even though in my review I mentioned that having a roku is better than the on-board network apps, I ended up moving my roku and using the tv's apps. I'll fix this by buying another roku, but the fact that it doesn't work is a quality issue. Maybe it's software.... don't know.

I love this TV. The LED technology makes the TV thinner, the blacks blacker, and the picture very nice. For me it's the perfect size as far as being substantial, but not "my life is my TV" big. This is the first TV I have owned that does not have a relay that clicks when you turn it on. I assume the LED's don't take much power and everything is solid state. The mechanical design of the TV is very nice. The screen is glossy which I love, but I don't have lots of windows in my TV room that cause reflections.

Settings that were required for me to like the picture:
1. set picture to "cinema" on all inputs (they are individualy selectable).
2. turn off the motion smoothing feature in advanced picture settings. The smoothing feature is nice, but it works too well if that makes sense. It can make things look artificial because, well, maybe I'm used to a bit of choppiness I don't know.
