Product Description

The XT50 series is an affordable 3D solution featuring Online Movies functionality, 720p resolution, 2D to 3D conversion, 600Hz subfield drive, and VIERA Link.

Operate Multiple Systems with Just One Remote Control through VIERA Link

The XT50 features VIERA Link, a technology that allows a consumer to operate all VIERA Link compatible AV components using only the TV’S remote control. Users can then watch their child, pet and/or property by installing the camera and networking to the VIERA HDTV via Ethernet cable. VIERA Link enables users to use the same HDMI cables to also transmit control signals between different devices. Just point the VIERA remote at your TV, and the signal will travel over the HDMI wires to the right piece of equipment, whether it be your Panasonic Blu-ray or DVD player or Panasonic Home Cinema Surround System.

Share Content on the Large Screen with 2D-3D Conversion

Unique Panasonic technology converts 2D images into high-quality 3D images in real-time.The technology generates a detailed depth effect for each type of image, so the 3D effect is natural and realistic. Enjoy Blu-ray movies, DVD movies and even ordinary TV broadcasts in 3D. The Super Resolution function allows images that were converted from 2D to 3D to be displayed in sharp, clear 3D images.

A Large Screen Full HD All-Round Performer: A Suite of Technologies

DLNA/Built-in Wi-Fi
Connect this DLNA-compatible VIERA HDTV and DLNA-compatible AV equipment to your home network, and you can watch movies, listen to music, and view photos from any room in the house. The XT50 series is Wi-Fi ready and an optional wireless LAN adaptor is required.

600 Hz Sub-field Drive
Panasonic uses its own unique image-analysis technology. This technology converts the motion in each scene into data; and each frame is virtually displayed in a shorter length of time, to create crisp images.

Game Mode
Games are much more fun when there's no video lag in operation. Select "Game Mode" under the picture mode option and VIERA automatically chooses settings that provide the optimal image, so you get super-fast response and no delays. Even dark scenes with delicately rendered details are beautiful and easy to see.

Media Player
Simply insert an SD Memory Card or USB memory stick into the slot to enjoy previously saved photos, video clips and music on VIERA's large screen. You can also add frames and other effects to your photos and videos, and create slide shows complete with background music. A wide variety of formats are supported, so you can listen to PC-based music files and web movies right on your TV.

Environmentally Friendly

Panasonic’s commitment to sustainability and producing products that are ecologically sound is evidenced in the 100,000 hour life span of the Plasma Display panel and the lack of lead or mercury in the panels. Thanks to a newly designed phosphor process and rear panel process, Panasonic's plasma panels last for up to 100,000 hours before the brightness decreases by half. That's more than 30 years of viewing 8 hours a day. Plus with Eco Mode, Panasonic TV's turn off and adjust brightness depending on the VIERA's operating status. Settings can be configured by selecting Eco mode from VIERA Tools. The Power Save setting also adjusts screen brightness to reduce power consumption.

This is my third Panasonic Viera and I've never had any issues w/ them. I bought this tv b/c it's internet ready (not sure what I'd ever use that for but it's nice to have in case it comes in handy), has ARC HDMI (to minimize cables), and is 3D capable (just in case--i didn't want my tv to be obsolete as soon as 3D caught on--if it catches on). So far, the TV is great. The picture is clear and the price is right.

However, I hated it at first. I spent my first few hours watching it wondering what the return policy is on TVs. The TV somehow made the directing of a show/movie cheesy, much like a soap opera. It sounds ridiculous but suddenly I couldn't bear to watch my favorite show. Something about the picture was so distracting. Long story short, I turned off the 3D feature (it is apparently on by default) and I haven't noticed any issues since. The 3D is so bad that I wish it wasn't even a feature. It's distracting and somehow makes every show/movie look like a very low quality production--like a high school kid filmed it.

So if you're buying this TV b/c it's 3D, you're in for a bad surprise. If you're buying it b/c it's a good price on a well respected brand, it's a good move.

This is my 1st TV and I don't know why, but I was inclined to buy panasonic over samsung. I was very doubtful when I bought this TV as we cannot get the features what this TV has for 720 bucks. The picture quality is very good ( if we don't compare it with higher end models worth $1500-2000). I haven't tried any 3D movie, but I feel it will also not disappoint me. Netflix , Amazon Videos , Hulu Plus works great ( though it depends on the internet speed as well).
Overall, I would say if anybody is looking for a 50" inch TV around 700 , just go ahead and buy this. You will be very satisfied with your purchase.

it's a 3d tv, so the video quality is really good. It needs a device attached to get the internet directly, which is why it only gets 4 stars
