No, it will still do time lapse. First, make sure your SD card is in. Second, only certain shooting modes will allow you to do time lapse. Try Intelligent shooting mode if nothing else works.

It opened the first time we had it in 3 fewer of water and was ruined. Don't buy it

I have never looked into that. I imagine that if there are firmware updates you could find them on Panasonics website. Probably best to have the camera registered first.

We bought an accessories kit that came with the European adaptor. The cable is interchangeable between the two.

You will need to buy an micro sd card. The camera will accept up to a 32gb. The camera is awesome btw. Excellent quality and plenty of in-camera features. Good luck
