From the Manufacturer

The PanaVise 300 standard base is a work-holding tool base designed for versatility. The PanaVise 300 standard base is compatible with all the heads in the PanaVise 300 series product line, as well as many accessories. This base utilizes a "split-ball" feature which allows for head movement through three separate planes (tilt, turn and rotate) controlled by a single-load control knob. It can be mounted with the 1/4" (6.3 mm) countersunk screw holes in its bolt circle or can be used stand-alone.

Versatile Base to Build Your System On

The PanaVise 300 standard base is 3-3/4" (95.2 mm) tall, weighs 1.4 lb. (0.6 kg) and has a base diameter of 4-5/16" (109.5 mm). The base combines with one or more of PanaVise's compatible heads (sold separately) to create a work-holding tool suitable for most any hobbies, electronic repair or assembly, or small home repairs. The bolt circle at the bottom of the base contains three pre-drilled holes that are countersunk for use with 1/4" (6.3 mm) flat head screws (sold separately) to secure the base to a work surface. Alternatively, the 1.4 lb. (0.6 kg) weight of the 300 standard base makes it suitable for lighter work-holding tool applications where mounting of the base is not required or desired.

Tilt, Turn and Rotation Functionality

The 300 standard base utilizes PanaVise single-knob "split-ball" functionality at the point of contact with installed vise heads. Once a vise head is installed and an item is secured, the split-ball system allows for maneuvering the item along three separate planes. The mobility range of the model 300's split-ball system is a 90-degree tilt to the side, along with either a rotation at a set angle or level turn range of 360 degrees. The mobility range allows a user to rearrange work items into virtually any position, limiting the need to adjust the overall position of the vise, or the item within the vise.

Multiple Vise Head Options

The PanaVise 300 standard base is suitable for a variety of applications and is compatible with a range of vise heads. The base works with all PanaVise 300 series vise heads, as well as the PV Jr. model 203 head, or any head tool accessory with a 5/8" diameter shaft.

This is very nice design for holding all the Panavise accessories that go with it. I currently am using mine with the circuit card holder and it makes the work so much easier. One note... inside the vise is a little bent metal disk that presses against the one side of the clamp when you tighten the handle. If you crank down a little too hard, it will break this piece, but you can remedy the problem by taking the unit apart and putting a nickel on either side of the clamp halves. Problem solved and it actually centers the clamp in the opening as well. Highly recommend these Panavise tools

The Panavise has worked beyound expectations. I woodcarve and having stationary work, yet moveable is very important to the artist. I would recommend this product to any wood carver or hobbyest. With the addition of the #337 Fixturing Head, the task of holding materials is at its best. I have been carving for over 40 years, my shop is now complete.

This is the second base I have for my Panavise items. If you haven't used one before you don't now what you are missing. I work on electronic items and with the proper attachments it makes kit assembly much easier.
This is a quality tool and will give you years of service. My other one has been in use for 30 plus years.

I bought this in conjunction with the Panavise 381 vacuum base vise so that I could have the option of putting the "head" into a base that was more or less permanently attached to my work bench for jobs that required just a little more stability than that provided by the vacuum base (as good as the vacuum base is). It works GREAT! And, I am pleased to have the flexibility to use either the vacuum base or the permanently "screwed down" base.

Superb unit, tight, well made and no issues. Made in what?? The USA!! Reno NV. The leader for over 30 years.

Returned the cheesy "Bessey" unit. It was just GARBAGE -- and priced like it, too!

Don't waste your time. Get Panavise -- the first time.

The example I received clamps the fixture stem at its bottom, leaving a small gap at the top. This allows the fixture rotate easily. Instead of trying another, I will tune this one. Would be worth the expense to improve manufacturing tolerances.
