Pancho was a little brown dog who did not belong to anybody. One day he arrived iin a small village where everyone was preparing for St Anthony Abbott's Day, a feast day. The people would enjoy good things to eat, and later there would be a blessing of the animals. Pancho speaks with the burro who plowed the field where the corn was grown, the hen who laid the eggs used to make the bread, and the goat who gave the milk from which the cheese was made. Pancho decided the animals needed a feast too, so he set about finding wheat cakes, corn, and cheese and other interesting items and invited the animals to enjoy the friuits of their labors. Pancho is rewarded in a special way.

Starting with the publication of over two hundred articles and short stories, Karen Cogan has enjoyed her writing career. Her recent novel publications include genres of historical fiction and inspirational fiction. In addition, she has a hardback children's picture book that recently won the Moonbeam Award for best multicultural children's book.

As a reader of Karen Cogan's historical romances, I was impressed when I first found her children's book, "My Little Brother Ben". I got a copy and loved it. Of course when I saw "Pancho Finds A Home", I had to give it a try as well. This is a gorgeously illustrated book with a sweet, engaging story about a little dog. It makes a perfect gift for children who are starting to read on their own or for younger children who like to hear stories read aloud. Fortunately, this tale is one you will not mind reading to a child over and over, and then "just one more time"!
