This product is XP compatable, though it isn't listed here,

This product is XP compatable, I am not sure why that is not listed on here.
In three days use I have been alerted to two hacking attempt to my computer. Not only was I alerted to this, the product STOPPED it by blocking access and gave me the IP address of said hacker/s, which can be looked up via the net. This really is a remarkable product, and I highly recommend it.

used norton for years,

I have been trying out different antivirus/security programs for the past month, and i like this one best. I have used norton for years and had no problems, but when i uninstalled norton, and installed this program it found stuff that norton and spysweeper had ignored. i like the anti-spyware program as an added touch.

Caused nothing but problems, and has abysmal tech support,
By
This review is from: Panda Platinum Internet Security 2005 (CD-ROM)
I installed this on a Win 2000 Professional O/S machine, and had nothing but problems with it. First, the processes would suddenly fail with "internal errors" and the software's recommendation would be to resinstall the product. This happened two times and I reinstalled the product each time. Then, the automatic update would stop working, complaining of invalid user ID and/or password, but I had not altered either. It would mysteriously begin working again on it's own. Tech support's recomendation was to "turn off automatic updates"! Then, if an email came through that triggered the "phishing" alert, it would completely obliterate the contents of the email, regardless of whether or not it was a valid alert. Tech support's recommendation was to "turn off the phishing component". Often, system scans would hang and had to be terminated manually through the task manager and would sometimes cause the machine to freeze.
Please note that there is no phone number you can call to contact tech support. The email responses that I received from them were laughable and I wondered if there wasn't some automated process generating gibberish "boilerplate" responses. It was obvious that they weren't reading prior communications to them on the same thread. "Turn off automatic updates", indeed! My recommendation is to not buy it to start with, or "turn off Panda" by uninstalling it. I have since switched to PC-Cillin, and haven't had a single issue.
