What's a panda to do when his dreams of kung-fu awesomeness awake to the cold reality of noodle-making? Clumsy, overweight Po (Jack Black) dreams of becoming a kung fu master like China's revered "furious five," but instead seems destined to follow in the footsteps of his father and grandfather in the restaurant business. When great leader Oogway has a vision that the imprisoned kung fu warrior Tai Lung (Ian McShane) will soon escape, he declares it time to choose China's dragon warrior--one kung fu master deemed worthy of possessing the dragon's scroll and its secret to limitless power. Po and all the townspeople rush to the Jade Palace atop the highest mountain to witness the contest between Tigress (Angelina Jolie), Monkey (Jackie Chan), Mantis (Seth Rogan), Crane (David Cross) and Viper (Lucy Liu), but Po is locked outside the palace. After a miracle of sorts, Po lands inside the palace gates, where he is chosen as the dragon warrior and placed under the tutelage of the decidedly non-plussed master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman). An unconventional student to say the least, hilarity reigns as Shifu tries desperately to make Po into some semblance of a kung fu warrior. Can Po possibly fulfill his destiny as dragon warrior, or was Oogway's final decision a critical mistake? A film rich with hilarious moments, superior animation, and an important message about believing in oneself and the power that comes from within, Kung Fu Panda is great entertainment that will have the whole family laughing and begging for more. (Ages 3 and older) --Tami Horiuchi

Product Description

Enthusiastic, big and a little clumsy, Po works in his family's noodle shop while daydreaming about becoming a Kung Fu master. His dreams soon become reality when he is unexpectedly chosen to join the world of Kung Fu and study alongside his idols-the legendary fighters Tigress, Crane, Mantis, Viper and Monkey-under the leadership of their guru, Master Shifu. But before they know it, the vengeful and treacherous snow leopard Tai Lung is headed their way, and it's up to Po to defend everyone from the oncoming threat. Can he turn his dreams of becoming a Kung Fu hero into reality? Po puts his heart and his girth into the task, and ultimately finds that his greatest weaknesses turn out to be his greatest strengths. 2-pack includes the all-new "Secrets Of The Furious Five."

The Furious Five movie is only 22 minutes long, so it's not really worth it to pay the extra $7. Stick with the single disc version and you'll be getting a lot more for your money.

I've got no issues with the feature film; it was just as good when I saw it in the theatres twice. But the Furious Five add-on is just a waste of time and money. It is about 30 minutes of backstory on the Furious Five as it explains how they came to study under Master Shifu. There are also some live-action demonstrations of their various fighting styles and a test to discover which kung fu style you are, but all in all it's just a waste. Get the movie only, save your money.

The Furious Five disk was a bit of a letdown. Much of the animation in the featurette (not a full blown feature) was not the usual high quality animation. Flashbacks were told in a different style of animation. Just not up to expectations of the main movie. Also, even if you get the fullscreen version of Kung Fu Panda, it seems as though the Furious Five disk is in widescreen (at least mine was). And, I should add that the price on Amazon.com was NOT as good as other places on the release date.

As a harsh movie critic, I expected this movie to be full of stupid humor with a ridiculous story line. I was pleasantly surprised, and laughed all the way through. My niece and nephews (Age 2 and 5) love it. Even their dads were laughing. There's a good lesson, and this movie is all around well written, scripted, acted, animated and artistic.

For kung fu panda-
This movie is great. The story is told in a very innovative way, is fluid and full of action. the extras are good, very good. the film comes in english, spanish and french

For the secrets of the furious five-
Is the excellent complement to kung fu panda. the extras are great too. The main film is really good, even though is not as good as kung fu panda film.

I was lucky enough to go to an event sponsored by Dreamworks to watch this film. I of course loved the film, I think it is imaginative, fun, well put together and have so many lessons to teach. When the film came out on DVD, I got it with the Secrets of the Furious Five. I loved the back ground information about the five, as well as all the games. However, it's not a full-length film, more of an add-on DVD, if anyone had any illusions otherwise. I would recommend this, though, if you like add-ons. A lot is targeting children, but there are fun stuff for adults too :)

Great movie! Great GCI! The lesson that can be learned from this movie is also heart warming. Just goes to show that no matter how you look, if you believe in yourself, things are possible. The Furious Five are also a great treat for this 2-pack movie. Gives you an inside look of their character. Highly recommended!

I have grown to love CGI when it is used in animated films. Kung Fu Panda is no exception. Jack Black seems to have found a perfect medium for his zany energy and style....he is perfectly cast as Po the Panda. The animation is superb in this martial arts based animated tale and the Asian setting is serene and beautiful. Kids and adults will enjoy this funny hip animated feature. The DVD has a great transfer and a fair amount of extras, including a direct to video sequel in this two pack DVD set.
