Book Description

REVISED AND UPDATED!

Pandemia - Genesis is part one in a series of books that relate the story of Mike and Liz Landis, a suburban couple faced with a new reality.

An exotic and mysterious virus appears in China and spreads quickly to the United States. The US Government tries to quarantine the infection and also control the information being reported by the media.

Despite rigorous protocols the virus manages to infect the general population and the rest of the world. Soon it's impossible to hide the truth from the public and society begins to fall.

The remnants of humanity are faced with a desperate struggle as the world slips into darkness.

Mike Landis has been preparing for a time when he could rely on only himself for survival. His planning and preparedness allows Liz and he to escape the madness as their world changes and their old lives are left behind.

After retreating to the safety of northern Michigan, Mike and Liz use all of their resources and skills to stay alive.

Fans of post-apocalyptic fiction and the discerning reader who enjoys a well-researched story with deep detail will appreciate this revised and updated edition of Pandemia - Genesis.

Going into this book, I knew that it was the first in an episodic apocalyptic series. As such I expected the ending to be a cliffhanger with many unresolved issues left for the next episode. Yet that feeling of excitement and suspense has me on edge now, wondering (plotting) where I would take these characters.
I felt the characters were reasonably built up, the plot well established before this episode ended.
I look forward to the next installment.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good potential, but... April 10, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I was just starting to enjoy this novel when it came to an abrupt end. The series approach to books is something I greatly enjoy, but taking a 400 page novel and pretending its four individual entries in a series is ridiculous.

If you are a fan of survivor novels you know the disappointment when the hero prepares well , gets to a good sanctuary then acts like an idiot.
This is that idiot hero. Let's see -other humans are incredibly dangerous so let's leave the cabin in the deep isolated woods and drive into New York City. This is where you quit the book because the hero is too dumb to live but you know the author will never kill him off.

2.0 out of 5 stars Pandemia May 9, 2013

Being as respectful as I can, the writing is decent. But it's not a book. Doesn't even qualify as a novella. I see a disturbing trend in the writing, marketing, selling of ebooks; and that is the writers, be it by choice, or because of pressure by the powers that be have shorten there writings to chapters instead of telling the whole story. Even with the book's written as a series, each book stands on its own ie a beginning ,middle and an end or a good stopping point. With your talent, tell your story, the money will come, but not if you short-change the readers as it seem blatantly obvious here. Same, as I liked how the story line was unfolding

3.0 out of 5 stars Solid Start March 17, 2013

I am a fan of post-apocalyptic fiction. This book is well researched and adequately paced. As part of a series I expected a cliff-hanger ending. The characters are well developed. The plot is a bit hidden and some decisions made by the characters are questionable but to be expected.

The problems I had with this book are the numerous typos and grammatical errors which I found to be glaringly distracting (seems to happen with a lot of Kindle books). Additionally, I am of the "old school" thinking when it comes to books. For me every book must come to a logical conclusion and must stand on its own merit. This includes books with cliff-hanger endings or ones that are part of a series. Unfortunately, this book just ends in the middle of a scene that I would not actually consider a cliff-hanger. It just ends. While I will certainly will get the next installment because I want to see how the story develops, the ending to the first episode left me unsatisfied.

Very realistic. Can't wait to read the next one. Easy and fast read that kept my interest throughout. Good examples of media manipulation, normalcy bias, and idiotic decisions. Truly enjoyable.

This book reads like an outline with a little bit of dialogue thrown in. Really undercooked and incomplete, very rough draft.
