1.0 out of 5 stars Adfree?? NOT! Loaded with advertising code. December 10, 2013
Verified Purchase
There are all kinds of suspicious things bundled with this application that is advertised as supposedly ad free.

Here is a list:

Admob
Mobfox
Adsense

Those three are all IN APP ad providers and yes they are definitely embedded in this version.

This app also contains the following embedded code:

Google analytics (collects usage data for targeting ads, etc.)
Google cloud messaging (can be used to spam notifications)
Facebook (need I say more?)

I do not even want this app on my device long enough to review the game itself because I don't recommend you install it at all because they're lying about it being ad free... there's all kinds of adware code embeded in this app- this is absolutely not adfree. Adfree means even the code is not there! Ad FREE means ad FREE.

You, developer, don't get to install it on my device for any reason if you are selling the app as ad free.

I am uninstalling it now after I checked it and I will not run it. I will not even install it long enough to find out whether or not it's malicious-- it's not even going to get the chance to screw up and clog up and violate my device.

I've had it up to here with developers like this!

1 star is one too many.

UPDATE: Some people are claiming that this code is perfectly fine in the application because it is supposedly unused. I hate to burst any bubbles but I am afraid that they can't possibly know that for sure. So I have made a generic response that I'm posting trying to help them understand that they cannot actually be correct about that assumption 100 percent of the time. I post it here also as an FYI:

"Are you a programmer?

Well, I am. For over 30 years now.

1.0 out of 5 stars Internet connection required and excessive permissions. December 10, 2013

Why does this need messaging from both Google and Amazon?? This app requires internet connection. I would stay away from this. It looks like digital thieves at work again. I have uninstalled this asap. Play at your risk.

This is a Trivial Pursuit style of game with the ability to compete against your friends online. The intro screen is written in broken English and does not look professionally edited. The first step is that the game wants you to sign in and it wants your user name, password and email address. You can play as a guest in the game and bypass the sign in process. If you chose to not play a Facebook friend or name an opponent the game will find one for you. Don’t give your friends names to this game to be potentially spammed. Be prepared to wait until it finds you one. It said I would wait less than a minute but after five minutes of waiting I finally got an opponent. In 10 minutes we got one question and I tuned the game off and deleted it. I hate this type of game where your time is wasted as you wait for their server and then you wait for your opponent to play their turn.

The game states that it is adware free but the components of the adware are still in the code and they can be easily reactivated. This game is slow, boring and not worth the time to download it. Its permissions and embedded spyware code make it intrusive and potentially dangerous. It has complete access to your internet and it knows your rough location based on your WIFI information. I was advised of this by an Android tablet’s warnings.

The game contains the following permissions and they are pretty invasive. Ok, some people will say that you are on a network and playing a human opponent but at these slow playing speeds and with all of these permissions why do I care? Who do I want to receive Google cloud messing from?

Application Permissions:
o Open network sockets
o com.amazon.device.messaging.permission.RECEIVE
o Access the vibration feature
o Access coarse (e.g.

1.0 out of 5 stars slow and crashes often December 10, 2013

It's nice to have a trivia game but this one is too slow and buggy. It wouldn't turn off alerts or allow me to change the game piece color. It also should list random opponent first instead of last.

3.0 out of 5 stars Trivial pursuit December 10, 2013

This is basically trivial pursuit. Not much more to say than that. Questions aren't too difficult. Kind of on the easy side to be honest.
The grammar errors in the instructions and menu make it seem somewhat unfinished or unprofessional.

2.0 out of 5 stars Frequently has errors
It doesn't seem like there are many other users to play with and so far they seem to lose interest before a single game is completed. The app also tends to short out on me. Read more
